Well none of the pumpkins in storage are going to make it until March for "The Big Show". I was so looking forward to carving in Green Bay. The GPC is not interested in us carving Funkins. :(

We will not be carving for the GPC in Green Bay but still would like to show off our talents. If you have ever wanted a personally carved pumpkin in one of our funkins that last forever let us know. https://www.facebook.com/gr8pumpkin.net

Man this pumpkin sure does not look like a penguin. I like carving in the off season. No rush, just take your time, and let the creativity work with you

All you guys posting pictures of tilled patches and green grass need to stop. We have 6 feet of snow in the patch. Today's high temp is 4°. So it is not thawing out any time soon

I chose to sculpt the GPC logo into this melon. The rind was a little rubbery so the letters were not as clean as I would like.

920 Cooper was trying to get out the door. so we moved the greenhouse 6 feet to give her a little more room. I give it a week before we have to remove it completely. We have some watm weather forecasted. It has been a cold, wet spring.

920 Cooper x Self Pollinated on June 17th. I have sprayed both Ridomil and Elumin to hopefully combat the pyhtium issue experienced last year. The 1200 Engel is spreading really good and should be ready to pollinate next week. The Patch Pumpkins are about 5 feet long and just starting to throw secondaries. We need more heat and sun for good growth

920 Cooper x Self is a taker...The 920 is a 1374 Engel x 1495 Stelts...Both produce a pumpkin with the Orange Calai Sunburst Spots which is the color I desire

Here is the female just starting to show on the 1200 Engel. The 1200 is a 1912 Carter x 1143 Engel. The 1200 produced the 673 Engel, 1544 Montsma and several other Howard Dill winners.

Jodi on the 920 Cooper...755 lbs 55 DAP slowly growing 15lbs a day. I had an issue with the main vine some kind of rot. but it seems to be under control after I applied chemotherapy

Jody on the 1200 Engel 780lbs 40 DAP she is putting on 30lbs a night. Hopefully she completes the season. She is just like the 673 Engel and the blossom and stem are just about touching. So she has a scary belly button

the belly button with no sight of the blossom

Here is the 920 Cooper x Self. Estimating at 1060 Pounds. She has nice color but is canteloping. Can't always grow them pretty.

Wednesday, September 11 View Page
Here is the 1200 Engel chugging along at an estimated 1266lbs. The plant is starting to show her age, but still gaining 15lbs a day. Will she break 1374 Barrier. We will see. I have a feeling she will go heavy

Wednesday, September 11 View Page
Here is why I think she will go HEAVY. I last saw the blossom back in July. She has very little or no cavity just like the 673 Engel.

What a season. Ended up with a personal best of 1411lbs on the 1200 Engel Plant. It was 7% heavy which was a surprise for me.

Then we have the 1096 Engel on the 920 Cooper. This plant had some fungal/disease issues at about 30 days and I nursed it all the way to the scale. I even set another pumpkin on a secondary. Jodi insists this robbed her of some serious weight gains. She may have been right

Here are our carves for Nickelodeon in the the Mall of America. It took two hours of shaving down the 1096 before Jodi was happy with the shape for the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle Head. If I do one of the again indoors we will have a better plan.
