Tough growing in Atlanta, Georgia’s hot humid weather, but an OTT of 259 should put me around 400 lbs and still inching along. I’m amazed that this pumpkin grew on such a small secondary vine. I only left it because I blew three up before it and options were slim.

44 DAP. Many changes to make next year. I wish I could contact Tim Grizzle to get some tips on how to be successful growing in Georgia. Biggest thing I learned this year is that “full sun” advice is from the Northern growers and I get much further in Georgia with a shaded to afternoon shaded patch from the intense heat.

1790-17 Holland 47 DAP. A great seed, this plant has produced this one (263OTT) plus 3 200 lbers and a 270lb .Next year I’m going with 1 pumpkin per plant in hopes of increased weight.

Trying to make it to my informal weigh off with a few local friends on Oct 27th. The vines are deteriorating. My guess is squash vine borer damage or fungus . Any help diagnosing would be appreciated.

What to do when Georgia doesn’t have a weigh off? Create your own! While not GPC official, the tent, band, the bbq and bonfire made it seem official......

My 273 OTT fell just short of the 500 I was hoping but weighed 494 lbs. Good enough to win while 375lbs took second. Our goal is to amp up our weights next year so that I don’t have to post embarrassingly small 500lb photos in the middle of 2000 lb posts!
