Hi my name is Knevin. I will be trying to grow a new state record pumpkin this year. Along with Uncle John, my dad, my patch dog Jagger, and a couple of 2363 Holland seeds. We will give it our best shot. I will be updating this diary throughout the season.

Uncle John here... Unfortunatly, with the lil guy at school and the weather here in NJ just wont be consistent.. Taking a chance here with several more days of crappy weather by at least getting 1 plant and 1 backup into the ground with a hoop house slapped together to keep em warm... 2043 Clementz was first in alongside 1792 Holland.. Hopefully this wasn't a mistake, as the ground was a lil soggy as it was spritzing a lil as I started to get them in.. Will wait out the weather before getting 2363 Holland in... If the ones that went in today have any problems, then the 1826 Wolf dmg will go from back up to 2nd main...

making a change and going to plant 1279 clementz into the main patch as the 2043 clementz is looking sluggish, while the 1792 Holland didn't take... The weather just isn't really cooperating here in the northeast...although the 2363 Holland is really taking off

Monday, May 28 View Page
Had a near catastrophe last week.. Was giving the plants that hadn't gone in yet a lil sun.. while on the ground in front of garage, a rabbit came sniffing around.. I scared it off.. But it ran right through the 682 Arnold and snapped the stem in half... I quickly taped it back together with electrical tape.. This is one tough plant.. Thanks for the seeds FarmerGal

2043 Clementz seems at a standstill... 1279Clementz next to it looks like it might be the keeper...behind those... 2363 Holland is coming along nicely, considering how crazy the weather has been this spring...have them a light drench of fish fertilizer...

Have a 2nd pollination on 2363 Holland that is looking good so far... have to wait couple days for next chance on 1279 Clementz... tonight did foliar of fish fert.and actinovate... also sprayed Merit after seeing a SVB land on one of the leaves... So far I have found dozens in the traps and no evidence of any on the plants until I saw that one land this evening... hopefully the Merit works

Not sure what is going on, but no growth at all the last couple days.. 2 'kins in 2 patches... Absolutely zero gain...no visible or soft spots noticed on either..vines and stems are healthy...3 straight days of cloud and rain...But should still get some growth right?

Wednesday, August 15 View Page
this has NOT been a good year for pumpkin growing here in NJ... The competition patch just got flooded too many times... cant get a pumpkin to take there... But we do have one in the top patch about 23-25 DAP that is 145 OTT.... Hopefully can get it to ramp up.. But its a small plant without a whole lot of sides behind it...We'll do the best we can though... Need to rethink things a lil for next year though

Say hello to JJ.. (Jagger Junior) on the 250est Pilley '17 About 28-30DAP unknown pollination but at 165" OTT est 105lbs now i'll take it!!

Tonight's numbers for JJ...170OTT for est. 114 lbs... Last 3 days growth..6,5, now 9...rainy weather slowed it a bit...really impressed such a small plant is churning out a nice pumpkin ...

Wednesday, August 22 View Page
so latest measurements on JJ 176OTT" for 126lbs!! Not bad at all for an unknown pollination!!

Saturday, August 25 View Page
tonights #'s 183 OTT inches for est. 140lbs... slow and steady... There's just not a lot of sides behind this plant to really push it along...

"What an awesome experience going to Ridgefield on Sunday!! Special thanks to Steve Mayden for putting it together!! It was an honor meeting some of the best growers in the world.. I learned quite a bit just sitting there talking with Pap Wallace!! My nephew Cole cant wait to go back next year!! Even his father, who isn't as into it as us, had a great time!! For the first time seeing some of these true "giants" up close.. Pics and vids just don't do these babies justice!!
