Poor guy. First one ever stuck in my netting. Supposed to be 'deer netting' not 'bird netting' so I was hoping on catching a 12 pointer.

Never thought the runt would be my lone plant in June. Lost 1 to foamy stump, 1 to GSB, and 1 to puppy. Oh well, I'm more excited about my gourds anyway.

Hope nobody has to work today like me! This is nothing special, I grow these eating maters big every year, but decided to establish a baseline PB. 0.78lbs. Funny I used to think these were giant....

Yeah, I know. The trellis is wayyy too low, like my expectations for my first long gourd. Gourdie Howe is making me a happy gardener this year, offsetting my pumpkin frustrations. The goal is to cover the entire 8 ft board, only a few days of growth left in him I think. Less than a foot to go!

Love growing these. I think I recall someone looking for some extra long dipper gourd seed earlier this year. I should have some by spring if you're still looking.

Well here she is. Not aborted yet and we are at 6 DAP. From what I read I'm not in the clear til around day 20? Another about to open a few feet down the main so hopefully I'll have a good backup.

DAP 13, taped 32" cc. Made a bonehead rookie mistake and didn't prop the vine up enough. Had to shave away some rot under the stem/vine junction where it tore.

256 Vial. I'm actually amazed I hit my goal of triple digits. Plant area can't be more than 70 sq ft. Proof genetics matter! Will be expanding garden next year with a goal of 200 lbs.

Pumpkin season over. Yet another rookie error I believe. Let a second set a couple of weeks ago on an aggressive secondary. Noticed the primary quit adding weight so I culled the 2nd. I took 2 days to cut it completely to prevent blowout. Didn't work. Massive sapping started happening in the main right before the fruit. Despite cleaning I noticed it is pretty much rotted away this morning. Hopefully I'm over the biggest chunk of the learning curve...damn it.
