Time to start tomatoes for Gale Woods. These were culled to start setting mega blooms. It is hard enough to grow large ones, but having them ready at a certain date is just as hard.

The tomato above the basketball is the last one to cull. If I can set the mega bloom on top of the plant to set.

The harder I try, the smaller they get. This was 3-lbs.8.10 oz. when I picked it at the blush stage. It lost 2.6oz. I will try to hydrate it, to see how much I can gain.

This 678 Adams is about 100lbs more, but not very pretty.

The tomato lost another .4oz. Maybe I should have soaked it in milk.

A cold spring. Now an early frost

I was hoping it wasn’t a killing frost. Mostly dead.

Bob, I decided to check my hammocks. I found that it had pressed the tomato against the stem. Now it is also damaged. Off my 5.175 2916 from Maccoy 5.3.

Another lesson learned. Build the tower taller then you think. Don’t let a blossom set lower on the trellis. Still my personal best and still growing.

Since my 678 Adams has stopped growing I decide to set one on the blossom end.

I went out to cover pumpkins last night and almost put my hand through the 678 Adams. It is going to be messy.

Qtip it is a long time until Gale Woods. I’m pretty sure I’ll have a smaller one to bring. Maybe this will grow more. 4.35 Hill from 5.2 Lyons It only measures 24in.

Maybe this one. It is a brother to my 6lb 4.4 oz . It only measures +24in.

My tomato is in an insulated enclosure, in the green house, with a light bulb. Need to gain a little to beat Q tip.

The deer found my pumpkin. I guess I had better get it to a safer place.

I guess it is too soft. It was fine until I got to the vines. I guess it helps not to walk on the soil.

Best and worse time of the year. I love the weigh offs, and meeting growers, but hate the clean-up. Bob, if you are just looking for seeds, I can bring these. Might have to use one for weigh off. Don’t know if big ones will make it.

My 7.66 the Mon. before Gale Woods. It looks like I lost a couple ounces. Maybe I need to get my scale checked.

Great day at Gale Woods. Check out the father of my 115 long gourd. http://www.bigpumpkins.com/WeighoffResultsGPC.aspx?c=L&y=2018 I put unknown, he must have confessed up. Hope he isn’t the father of my tomatoes.

You can see why the big ones go heavy. Solid tomato guts and not much seed space.
