Here is the front yard pumpkin with my pumpkin model. The pumpkin only had 18x18 of tilled dirt and 5 sprinkler heads. The pumpkin grew sitting mostly in the grass. This was grown from my 1278.
Here is the front yard pumpkin loaded for Thanksgiving Point. Thought it would look funny if it looked like the Geo was going to pull it.
Pumpkin went 15% light and weighed 1096 lbs and took 3rd. Even though it went light I never would have thought I could grow something this big in my front yard.
Hopefully the backyard pumpkin won't go so light. Will take it to Hee Haw farms on 10/13
I hate to get my hopes up anymore at a weigh off thinking what my pumpkin is going to weigh based on its tape.
Here I am waiting to get weighed thinking "I hope it doesn't go too light"
taping 416 inches and only weighs 1277 lbs - I would have never thought it would go so light - 18%
Still ended up being the heaviest pumpkin grown in the state of Utah this year and it was the first time I have ever won a weigh off - but dang 18% light come on.
Sad when you see Ron Wallace weighs one in taping the same as yours and his weighs 1729
I know I have lots to learn to be able to grow with the big boys. Growing at altitude and the hot days and really cold nights don't help either, but I know I can do bigger - or I mean heavier.
