Starting my diary a little late this year. This is about six weeks ago. My goal is to try to get on the master gardener list for the second time this year growing six of the seven categories.
I am happy to be on "The A Team" in the tomato challenge for this year.
I pity the fool who tries to beat our stacked team of Hayden "Face" Marv "Murdock" and me "B A Barracus" this season!!

I have almost finished the third melon bed. You can't really tell it but we had 2" of cold rain on Tuesday followed by 8" of snow Wednesday .... then it all melted yesterday. I worked late Monday spreading amendments on some of the beds so it worked out good for me to be able to add the last soil in the new bed this weekend.
This is how Virginia weather is. This past month we have been missing the brunt of all the nor-easters going up the coast but getting all of that cold wind which I hope is gone for this season.

Lacey Jane loves the garden more than I do. Every hole I dig she has to stick her nose into it. I will usually find her laying in the shade after the real work starts though :) She will be 11 this September.

It only took me something like two years after she designed to start. At first she was very patient....but then it was more like no office = no pumpkin growing this year! What an evil woman!

We did some sightseeing while out west. This is where the Columbia river meets the Pacific Ocean; and Lewis and Clark's journey was completed. Oregon is on the left and Washington on the right with waves from the Pacific barely visible.

I had many pictures of the beautiful Oregon landscape picked out to show.... but were taken on my phone and won't load(over 4MB)so I took a picture of a picture lol. Sharon took this and hung it in her new office. This is Cannon Beach and in the distance is Haystack Rock. There was an abundance of wildlife there, including Elk.
