Stump on the 1927 Uhlmeyer looked pretty bad there for awhile. I was worried that my season was done.

It healed up nicely. These plants sure can take some damage.

The pumpkin is DAP 8. Not where I would like to be, but at least I have one set. The high temps during pollination time made a few of them abort. I have to wonder if it is behind a bit due to the Anthesis spray?

I have a garden buddy helping out. I have had a praying mantis show up in the garden every year since I was younger. Amazing to me that it happens.

I won some paprika seeds in an auction. This was the biggest pepper on one of them. I will keep it until a better one shows up.

Was out in the patch today, and noticed the stump was foaming.

I scraped the outside mush off, and decided to cut it open. Water gushed out for a minute or so. I cut until I saw no more foam, or brown mush.

Sprayed it with a peroxide solution, and wiped it away after a few. Did that several times. After that I sprayed with a bleach solution, and wiped it away after a bit. Did that twice.

Then I packed it with some paper towels for an hour.

All dry. Just in case I ran a fan on it for a few hours. I moved it every half hour to make sure that it was all dry.

Then I painted it with a Captan paste. I took my time to make sure that I got it into every nook and cranny. Then I put the fan on it to help speed up the drying.

The main issue I seem to be having is that there is water pooling at the bottom of the stump. I have never seen inside one before so I don't know if this is normal or not? Not sure if I should cut more so that it drains?

I put some plastic bottles over the cut to keep the rain out. I then put a table over the stump to help with that.

Just an updated picture of the paprika pepper.

The pumpkin is at DAP 16 today. Not where I would like to be at this time. Like I mentioned in an earlier post I have to wonder if this is due to the Anthesis or not? I also am concerned that I might lose the plant, because of the foaming stump. I have the vines buried well. If I lose the stump hopefully they can take over.
