Monday, May 14 View Page
I have been growing pumpkins for the last 20 years.. In that time I have done ok , I have a collection of HDs which make me very happy.. So I read an article from a man I respect very much based on the Foxworthy ( YOU MIGHT BE A REDNECK ) theme.. This makes me laugh and I wonder how much I can push young plants to get them going.. Guess what I burnt down 7 of the 9 plants.. I am not throwing in the towel, 10 seeds are in the germ box getting ready to start season 2... You might be feeding too much if you kill your plants before they get out of the cold frames..

Replaced a few of my burnt up plants with back ups today.. Planted a spare 907 Young and 816 Gansert in two empty huts.. Replaced the 777 Young with a 1048 Engel. I also replaced the 916 Rondeau, ( one that I didn't burn )the root ball never grew and it flagged on sunny 60 degree day so after two weeks it had to go. I still have two empty huts and 4 seedlings that will be ready by the end of the week.. Life is good.. I would also like to thank all that offered me plants, you people rock..
