We've had late snow before, but those were just a fluke and things warmed right back up. This has been the coldest continual winter I've ever seen.

I really hope this is the last morning I wake up to this crap. For at least another 7 months. 8 would be nice.

Taking a beating with the wind, but plants are about on track as compared to the last two years.

Plant color looks better than last year, but the heat knocked two plants out of competition so far. Happy with what I have left if I can keep it going. 1742 in the foreground.

My best prospect got a rubbery blossom nub, but I'm not sure I caught it in time. Fingers crossed......

Nothing too exciting. This is the good half of the patch.

130 Wolf 17 (103 Wagler x 102.5 Wolf) DMG. It would easily have been a personal best.

1385 Wolf DMG (2145 x 1937). Day 51. It would easily have been a personal best.

The heatwave around and just prior to pollination screwed up the mojo on a few of my plants. I walked away from a few of them and let things go wild. My 1937 Urena could have been a champ if not for the heat messing up the main vine sets. Every pumpkin in this picture was grown on a single 1937 plant. 1048#, 1026#, 564#, 505#, 304#, and another around 200# is still on the vine. Probably not a record, but 3500+ pounds on one plant seems impressive. All on secondaries or tertiaries. The 1937 was a very healthy plant - nice color on the pumpkins too!

Pretty happy to have had something make it to scale at the end of this season. 1624.5 Wolf 18 (1742 Wolf x self) went a bit heavier than I expected, and was good for 3rd place. The 1742 was a selfed 2145, so this 1624 is planned for next year's planting, at least as a pollinator. A big thanks to the guys who gave my seeds a try this year. It was amazing seeing the top 5 at the weighoff grown off the 1826 or 1742. Congrats to Karl on that absolute rock!

Here's a side shot of the 1624. Very similar coloring, and kept a lot of the shape of the 1742.
