Had a vegetable garden since 1942 when I was 10, we called them Victory Gardens. This is my first time growing Atlantic Giants. Attended the Durham, CT Fair last Sept. mainly to see the pumpkins. Ron Wallace took 1st place (big surprise). Plan to keep the middle plant on the left (1177 Clementz) and the far plant in the 150 patch (350 Shaw 2009x2009)grown for seed.

Plants are growing and females are showing up. Pollenated my 1st AG 7-6-17. Plan to cull 6 plants soon. Wanted to make sure there would be males ready when needed.

My very first AG ever, it's in the 150 patch. Forgot to take a pic in the blossom, she has 8 lobes, nicely formed. Will be culled because she's only 4' out on a secondary vine. Used 3 males from an 1177 Clementz.

Now you see it! Nice healthy plant, 350 Shaw (2009x2009) -but- it had only female blossoms which were pollinated by four different plants in the patch. They appeared to be growing. decided to pull it.

They never got bigger than a football. Nice roots too. I'm a first year novice and have a lot to learn, this site is a great help!

Off to the town compost pile. Will probably get it back a compost next spring.

I named her "Hope", she's 204 OTT for 197# est. Only 100SF of plant behind her and she has a vine split at the stem. Used peroxide and sulphur and it's looking better. The plant quit growing 7 feet beyond Hope with no secondaries. Didn't plan on keeping her but there weren't any more female blossoms. She's my first AG so I'm proud of her.

Here's the split. Probably caused by stress from not having any slack in the vine. Learned a lot this year from the post on this site and I'm looking forward to next year.

This is "Yellow Moon" she's 6' out with a few small secondaries. Weighs about 40 lbs.
