Look at the difference between these 2 plants... both 295 Kent's... same rootstock... different types of grafts... they germed and were grafted and went thru the healing process at exactly the same time... the hole insertion graft on the right is still slower with the recovery time... the plant in the left is a single cot graft... I'll give them a little more time before I choose who stays...

Here are the top 3 melons from the Old Washington Farmers Market. Lloyd Bright (Left side) was 3rd with his 237.7 lb melon. Me (center) with my new Arkansas state record of 291.4 lbs, and my Mom, Becky Lindley (right side) with her 253.4 lb melon. She deserves a lot of props for all the help she does with the melons, from picking culls, following me around in the rain measuring, filling spray jugs, you name it she does it... Thanks to my Dad Jerry Lindley too, If I can't measure or spray he does it, he helps with the patch prep and dirt work... It's definitely a team effort especially when we have 11 melon plants, 4 pumpkin plants, 4 long gourds, 3 bushel gourds, 5 giant cantaloupes, 2 field pumpkins, and a large garden.

Here's the 253.5 Lindley 17 (272.5 K Neptune × sibb) from last weekend's weigh off at Roberts Family Farm in Guston, Kentucky. Finished 4th behind Frank Mudds 321.5, Chris Kent's 316, and Jason Terry's 260... had a great time at a great event.

Here's my Dad, Jerry Lindley with another of their melons. He finished 7th with 213 lbs on our only traditional plant. So here's the 213 Lindley 17 (239 Leonard x self). The heat got this melon when it was a few days old or poor pollination by me. The blossom end is pointed down. The baby melon was perfect shaped up until about dap 8 but we had to keep it due to other failed pollination attempts and running out of time.
