Started a few giant lopes this weekend. This is my first attempt at lopes. Big thanks to Jeremy Lindley and Danny Vester for giving us some great seeds. The 3 on the right in the container are 53.4 Lindley and the 3 on the left are 45 Vester. The 3 pots in front are Rampart rootstock. This grafting thing is kinda neat so I might graft one of these just to see how it goes. Good luck everyone!!

Well look at that! I haven't had my old Kent dirt a full day and I'm already getting some of those purple weeds that the Kent dirt is famous for growing. Maybe it's a sign of good things to come!

Melon plants coming along better than ours ever have. Adding all of our soil amendments today and a few plants should be hitting the ground soon. This is the first year that we started plants in waves to try to catch some later weighoff a. Good luck to everyone!

This is our hydroponic experiment for this year. We planted these plants on April 20. The middle crossing 2x4(the one the tallest plant is at) is almost 10 feet of the ground. This is 6 tomato plants(5 San Marzano and 1 Cherokee Purple) and a basil plant. We have already harvested about 15 gallon ziploc bags full of basil. I had to raise the trellis for the tomatoes up to about 17 feet. Maybe they reach the top by the end of the season. Also, all of the leaves on these plants are still dark green and plants look so healthy that I haven't had to spray the at all this season with an insecticide or fungicide. Anyone wanting info on our setup just shoot me an email it is really easy to build and maintain. We will grow all of our veggies with this system from now on!

Two melons at the same node! You gotta be kidding! I'd rather have one huge melon than two little melons any day. I found this on one of our Orange Tendersweet melon plants.
