Neighboring Kent plants still have a way of being close together even though they're 300 mile from their home place.

Sunday, June 25 View Page
2 neighboring Kent plants with different melons still trying to get close enough to hold hands. 300 miles from their original home place they seem to like it here near the southeast coast of NC.

We like growing them upside down. Like laying in the bed on your stomach, doesn't it feel good to roll over on your back? It's an experiment I'm trying

Sunday, July 9 View Page
After 4 hours upside down, you then roll them over and watch them enjoy the afternoon in the shade

Took 1st place at our Local Fair Bluff NC Watermelon festival today with a 215lb new personal best weight. My previous best was 179 lbs. I owe some thanks to some people for helping me along, and you know who you are. Thanks for making this exciting!

Rolled this 115 plus day old Melon to take to Elkin NC tomorrow and found a brown spot on the bottom. Took it to scales to weigh, and it was 248lbs. It only measured 201", and should have weighed 225lbs. Think I will keep this seed. I like the ribs on this melon.

Went to the patch this afternoon looking for a melon to take to Elkin NC, there were still 6 melons out there, they had all received their 2nd social security check last week and had endured 50" of rain since being planted back in April. Rolled them all over, only to find a bad spot on all of them. 5 were in excess of 200lbs. Season is over!. Ready to make plans for next year.
