This is my first diary entry this year. I am still growing but have just been keeping a diary on facebook because it is a lot less cumbersome than this site. This year I am growing all orange. Here is my main plant a 1912 Carter. I am still grwing in tight space and its wedged in beside my driveway.

Here is the keeper on the 1912 Carter. Its about 12 feet out on the main vine and is looking like it is going to be tall round and orange with ribs. Just what I was hoping for. The pumpkin is 15 days old and is 26" in circumference.

Here is my second plant, a 1561 Reeb. This one was a slow starter and gave me some troubles when the vine wanted to head the wrong direction. I finally got it turned around, but the secondary growth has been slow and it is just now starting to fill out on the sides.

The 1561 Reeb also has been very stingy with the females. This is the first one on the main vine and its going to be about 16' out when the vine grows out. There is only one other female on the plant on the first side vine. Its going to be a later pollination than I was anticipating but that is probably a blessing in disguise because it will allow the plant to fill in a little bit more behind the pumpkin before it sets.

My final plant is my own 444 Radach. It is extremely shady here in this location which has caused the plant to put a lot of distance between leaf nodes and also grow very large leafs. I may have to give up growing in this spot because the Apple tree on the left just keeps getting bigger and bigger and blocking out more light. The secondaries have also been pretty slow to develop on this one.

I pollinated the first on the 444 Radach This morning crossed with the 1912 Carter. 6 lobes on this one sort of. The 6th one is a little squished. There is not a lot of plant behind this one so I am not anticipating very much in the way of size.

1 week to go until the Puyallup Fair. Day 70 for the 1912 Carter. 137.75" circumference 321.5" OTT 725 pounds estimated weight. 9 pounds per day over the last 5 days. She should be estimating somewhere in the 750 -775 range for the fair. I think it will go light though. It sounds pretty hollow when I thump on it. I don't want to jinks my self but its going to take a very special Pumpkin to beat this one out for a Howard Dill Award.

The 1912 Carter weighed in at 770.5 pounds at the Puyallup fair. It went a little heavy to the chart.
