Late, late start this year. I recently moved to cedar city Utah from Las Vegas. I was moving when my seeds should have been going. Regardless, I got the germinated and in the ground 6-18. Along with my pumpkin I planted some glass gem corn. Never tried it before.

Thursday, June 30 View Page
Sorry, this is the corn on June 30.

Saturday, July 2 View Page
Started covering the soil around the Corn and pumpkin with mulch.

Here's a shot of the back patch a couple of days ago. Will post some pics of the front patch tomorrow. I've got three pumpkin, one giant watermelon and corn in the back. 3 more giant pumpkin and one store bought transplant in the front patch.

Wednesday, July 20 View Page
Here's shot one of the front plants. Again, I'm probably going to keep the middle plant. I started really late but it looks like they will take off soon!! I hope!

Wednesday, July 20 View Page
This one is a Bonnie store bought plant. Was root bound when I got it but I saved it and it's doing well, ran about a foot in each direction today.

Wednesday, July 20 View Page
I have this same watermelon strain in my backyard patch and it's half the size planted the same day. This one just started to run today.

Sunday, July 24 View Page
Maybe they will take off after all. The watermelon ran a couple of feet in the last couple of days.

Sunday, July 24 View Page
Here's that Bonnie going nuts. Had to cut back a few vines. There was 6 running.

Sunday, July 24 View Page
In the front patch I pulled one plant and am down to these two. Very thick with huge leaves but they just aren't running as fast as they did in Vegas.

Sunday, July 24 View Page
This is my freak zucchini. It took over a good chunk of my garden. My little tomatoes are about to be pulled to make room for this girl.

Tuesday, July 26 View Page
Looks like a couple of females. One on each vine. Vine isn't long enough to support them yet. two out of three out back have females. All males in front patch.

Tuesday, July 26 View Page
The yellow is odd isn't it?

Wednesday, July 27 View Page
Slow growing. It's been realllllly hot this last week. Vines are shooting now but only seem to be running 4-6" a day. :(

Wednesday, July 27 View Page
The mini watermelon that was supposed to be giant watermelon doesn't look so giant. In the front patch It's running fast though. Back is much slower.

Thursday, July 28 View Page
I've been neglecting the back patch but here's a late night update. The corn is growing steady. Three pumpkin vines starting to run. Two have females already. Kinda short for females isn't it??

Thursday, July 28 View Page
This is the longest of the three in the back patch.

Friday, July 29 View Page
I think I'm going to have to take out the middle plant. I wasn't counting on three plants in the back patch. I started with four. Down to three and now I'm thinking of culling the middle plant to give root room? What do you guys think? Shoot me an email.

Grrrrrrrrr. Squash bugs!!! Their here. I've only seen them in the back patch so far. Killed everyone I was able to see, pocket knifed them in half! Again and again. I'm going to hit the patch with some pesticides tomorrow. Nothing I can do tonight. :(

Saturday, July 30 View Page
I'm starting to think I planned poorly. Probably because I didn't plan. ;) Yesterday it was very cloudy and I had the most growth in one day I've seen so far. Maybe I should shade the plants? Too much sun? Also my pumpkin are running right over a rouge watermelon. Maybe I will just let everything run and see what I end up with.

Sunday, July 31 View Page
Seeing the other entries I realize how very far behind I am. I have 5 females that are ready to open any day now. Ready to start seeing some size gains!!

Tiny female watermelon

Sunday, July 31 View Page
Here's the front plant running over the watermelon. We'll see how it Gos.

Monday, August 1 View Page
I was hoping this was going to be my season saver. Opened up this morning but I have no males! I let the bees have it. It's either pollinated by a Bonnie mega or a zucchini. :(

Monday, August 1 View Page
It started off such a beautiful day. Then HAIL!!!! Just destroyed my best plants. The backyard patch didn't get hit as hard. Looks like it may survive.

Wednesday, August 3 View Page
The little watermelon is actually growing pretty fast. I'm going to call her peanut.

Wednesday, August 3 View Page
Got a few males from my neighbors to the north! Hopefully we are going to pack on some pounds soon! Thanks for all the advice and help Curt and Susan! It was a pleasure meeting you!

Wednesday, August 3 View Page
Crossed with Curt and Susan's 1533 as she closed. Might have got a mix of 1533 and bees. Who knows? We'll see!

Friday, August 5 View Page
3 DAP. Bonnie Mega with 1533 Kline. Looks like this one set. Front patch.

Friday, August 5 View Page
Same fruit getting its shine on. DAP 3 Front patch.

Friday, August 5 View Page
Not sure about this girl. Color is off and she's got a few gashes still from the hail storm. Front patch plant 1. Unknown AG self polinated.

Friday, August 5 View Page
Here's a close up on "Jane Doe" Unknown AG DAP 4. Hail shot this plant really bad on 7-31. Not sure if I will let it grow. It's staying till another fruit pops up.

Saturday, August 6 View Page
Here's a shot of the front patch. Jane doe on left. Bonnie on right. Rouge watermelon center left.

Saturday, August 6 View Page
Here's the back patch. AG's and Glass Gem corn. Pumpkin is running down to lower level. Going to re-till and frame out the lower section this weekend.

Saturday, August 6 View Page
Rear patch, Jane Doe X 1060 Jarvis. 4 DAP

Sunday, August 7 View Page
The front Bonnie plant looks promising. I'll be happy with anything over 200 lbs for this year being I started so late. This little girl is less than a week old and looking pretty good.

Sunday, August 7 View Page
Jane doe is doing alright so far. Looks like she's growing. Will start daily measuring tomorrow.

Sunday, August 7 View Page
Cleaned up the front patch today. They have about 500 feet to run but only 12' wide. Also have to keep them from running up the apricot tree.

Sunday, August 7 View Page
Side view of front patch.

Sunday, August 7 View Page
Zucchini is doing really well. I've pulled and eaten a few already, I'm going to see how big this one will go.

Sunday, August 7 View Page
This has me worried. Plant one of back patch. Powdery mildew? This is the patch I had the squash bugs in too. Thank God I have two patches.

Monday, August 8 View Page
So I'm pretty darn sure this IS NOT an AG. It sure looks like a zucchini crossed with a pumpkin. Look at my other entries for the leaf pictures.

Monday, August 8 View Page
Sure looks like a zucchini leaf (minus the hail damage) the entire vine (growing as fast as and vines like my AG's) is thorny like a zucchini, but I pollinated it with Curtis' 1533 Kline. I'm soooooo confused right now. It's put on 2" overnight. Guess will see where she gos.

Monday, August 8 View Page
Here is a leaf from my "Normal" giant plant.

Saturday, August 13 View Page
I'm almost embarrassed posting my pics seeing all the others so big already! I wish I could've started earlier this year. Anyway, the Bonnie is doing well, 11 DAP averaging 2" round a day and 1-1.5" a day from stem to blossom end. It actually feels like it has a few pounds in it now!

Saturday, August 13 View Page
The front plant is doing about the same at 12 DAP it's gaining 2" a day round and 1-2" from stem to blossom end.

Wednesday, August 17 View Page
It's starting to pack on some pounds. Only a few weeks old. My concern is how small the stem is.

Wednesday, August 17 View Page
Still green, steady growth about the same as my AG.

Thursday, August 25 View Page
Been slacking on updating my diary. Had great growth this week on the front patch, it's run all the way over to my apricot tree. 5 fruit out front, two are packing on weight fast. I need to get a new tape measure as my old one doesn't fit around the pumpkin anymore.

Thursday, August 25 View Page
My biggest so far, it passed the Bonnie last week and is packing on weight fast now. For reference that's a tall Rockstar can to the right.

Thursday, August 25 View Page
The little pumpkin that could! This guy is right before the huge stem hole that the hail storm last month caused. What's really strange is, it's a week younger than the other yellow fruit but it's catching up on size really fast!

Thursday, August 25 View Page
Here's old fingernail Bonnie. That huge bruise was from a single fingernail scratch a month ago. Now that fingernail scratch is as big as my hand.

Monday, August 29 View Page
Well this isn't good. I am going to have to dig up the main and move it over a few feet. This fruit is growing into my Boulder.

Saturday, September 10 View Page
I've been slacking on my pumpkins lately. This was the one I thought was going to be my monster this year. Ended up a late bloomer bypassed this one a few weeks ago. Still rather large. Will measure tomorrow to get an estimated weight.

Saturday, September 10 View Page
This is the late bloomer. Don't know the exact date of pollination because I didn't expect it to take. Now it's surpassed my others as the largest in the patch.

Saturday, September 10 View Page
My watermelon has been packing on some weight these last few weeks. Really light color on it. I haven't been covering it at all.

Saturday, September 10 View Page
Here's the biggest on the Bonnie plant. I doubt it's getting any bigger it's getting really orange, almost neon looking. I think it was pollinated on Aug 6? Will have to check the other diary entries to see for sure.

Thursday, September 15 View Page
Finally starting to pack on some pounds and now it's getting cool at nights. It was in the low 40's last night and supposed to be in the high 30's tonight. Don't know how much more I will squeeze out of these girls.

Thursday, September 15 View Page
This is the oddball fruit that was on the hail damaged vine. I have no clue how it ended up being my biggest pumpkin. I did start using my chickens manure to make a tea. Seems to have helped as growth over the last week has been awesome. My Bonnie plant is running down the rock wall and a few females are growing on the rocks. I'm going to let them go for now but if they pack on some weight I will cut them before they roll down the street.
