I was curious what my pumpkin that started to rot weighed. I didn't have a scale that would weigh more than 500 lb so I split it in four. I was shocked that it weighed 572lb. It was the smallest kin of the three I have. Fingers crossed the two I have left make it to the weigh off on October 1st.

I'm pretty excited to see what this one weighs next week at the weigh off. All and all I'm pretty happy with my first year trying to grow a giant. Already thinking about next year.

We came close to getting frost last night 2 degrees celcius . Covered the pumpkins with blankets and tarps. Uncovered them this morning and gave them a hardy breakfast of compost tea. 6 days to go!

It's getting cooler in the nights now. I've turned ked the pumpkins in for the night under blankets and tarps. Had another skin crack show up today on the blossom end of one. It looks superficial treated it with a paste made of Captain fungicide. 5 days to go!

The rain finally stopped so I pulled the tarps and blankets off to let them get some air. The cracks haven't gotten any bigger. I'm going to cut and lift them tomorrow.
