The GPC rep came out yesterday to witness our 7.15 tomato - it went 8% light so false alarm. However, he liked Wally . Later that afternoon the head of giant vegetable exhibits called and asked us to bring the squash to the fair

Apparently the national news will be there Friday and they thought they would like to see Wally. He tapes only about 350 but Dave Cantrell's 516 should go heavy and he is a beautiful shape and color. Thanks brotherdave

Wally had a good 150 mile trip to the fair. He got a little scar from a loose strap and cried a little when they trimmed his stem back to one inch to meet GPC rules. He went 28% heavy at 477 lbs. About 20,000 people should see him at the fair. Certainly a better fate than meeting his end behind the high tunnel at the hand of a shovel and a disgruntled gardener.
