OK 4/23/2016 3:30 pm PST 1 Shaw 1104 X 2323.7 and 1 Shaw 2104 X 2323.7 in the ground, there will be another plant planted in the next day or so making that 2 to cull! I can only sustain 1 plant in my plot. Making the decision for the three was relative easy culling to one AGHAST.

This plant has been protected as you can see on previous posts. I decided to take the canape down as the plant was outgrowing it and the climate had moderated to night 50+ and day 60+ but maybe its just too cold what ya think. In-ground cables keep 70+ the droop is ugly only hope for warmer weather?????

well now, what a recovery, since the Dish-rag on a stick... things are looking up. The vine is running. The night time temp is 50 and improving the soil is at 80 and the day temperatures are predicted to 70 +/- over the next 10 days, more sun than clouds I hope. Cold frame removed today and lo budget wind protection. HERE WE GO!

Well its fathers day what ever that means??? Anyhow I have a male flower but yet have not a female flower. How are I gonna do this??? Something are not working right ??? But there are several more male flowers ready, what does this mean. The male flowers will be all worn-out by the time a female shows up!

OK I know a watch pot never boils . I also know that when a pumpkin female has the characteristics of opening the next morning it generally does. Well sometimes they are like a 9 year old daughter and refuses to do anything especially when its expected! So after close guarded attention for 4 days through a rain storm a cold snap and drizzle for 2 days this morning at 4,AM the beautiful flower decided to open. The 2104 Shaw has plenty male flowers so before the female had a chance to close it got pollinated at 5 AM today. 6-24-16 I had hoped to pollinate with my backup 2009 but that cannot happen as no flowers opened. So now all I can do is to hope this beauty starts to GROW!
