On July 29th I probed the stem split on the 2230 Wallace and verified/almost certain the split had reached the cavity. Moral of the story, split pumpkins don't gain 500lbs in two weeks. It's late in the season and germination has just started, so we will see how it goes.   Saturday, November 5 View Page This is one of the few things that bother me about gpc rules. This was one of a handful of "soft spots" that disqualified me from competition. 4-5 weeks later, the same spot has only encroached <.25" into solid fruit. No leaking,mushiness or degradation during weighoff. The only true issue of the fruit was rot that appeared after carving on October 9th.
