I lost the 1916 on May 21st, very disappointed, it was the 1st seed in awhile that I was very excited to grow. The 2232 is coming along nice enough and is just starting to run.

2230 Wallace at about 7'
We'll see how much a parallel split in the main hinders the plant, I'm quite a bit behind other growers, so it will be an interesting season.

I took a few suggestions from Cecil and put a whole lot more ass behind the fruit this year. If I weren't so behind everyone on fruit set, I would have felt a lot more optimistic about this season.

A small consolation prize for not having anything to weigh this year. I spent some time trying to finish my precision rifle build.

16 days later and something surprising has happened. On July 29th I probed the stem split on the 2230 Wallace and verified/almost certain the split had reached the cavity. Moral of the story, split pumpkins don't gain 500lbs in two weeks. I sure wish I could have those days back.

The weight on this guy will be interesting. Can't wait to see what it comes in at.

Seed envy. Thank you to the anonymous friend that just gifted my entire 2017 lineup. I need to find a way to repay you!

Doing a final drench with RTI's liquid Myco on the cover crop. Mustard, kale, turnip and winter rye. It's late in the season and germination has just started, so we will see how it goes.

This is one of the few things that bother me about gpc rules. This was one of a handful of "soft spots" that disqualified me from competition. 4-5 weeks later, the same spot has only encroached <.25" into solid fruit. No leaking, mushiness or degradation during weighoff. The only true issue of the fruit was rot that appeared after carving on October 9th.
I enjoy my hobby and have the utmost respect for my hometown weighoff and its organizer, but rules need amended through the governing body.
