Not growing anything serious this year, maybe a few orange ones and a few sunflowers. Involved in the new weigh off at sunny side gardens this year. I hope anyone within reach can come and join us! Looking forward to seeing everyone. Here's the prize structure for the event, pass it on! It should be a great event. More to follow shortly- room info at group rates, growers cookout!

Got this idea after seeing Ron Wallaces display of zinnias! I have some self seeded cleome spread throughout the zinnias. Makes for a nice mix.

Anyone interested in reserving a room for the Sunnyside gardens September 24th weigh off , here is the link for room reservations. Note- you can reserve rooms for the 23rd, and or the 24th to suite your needs. Many growers may want to come on Friday to attend the growers picnic and chat session. Something we are trying to bring back since many of us enjoyed this day before weigh off time at Cooperstown so much! I hope you can all make it. More details soon on the picnic.

Relaxed growing with my son this year is all that's going on here! Besides sunny side pumpkin weigh off. Weigh off is more important for our area to be a success! Pumpkins can wait!

Some good crosses like the "freak" & the 1916 Baron! Both original seeds selfed by me & now put back into service! My selfed freak seed (1512 brownell ) produced Karl Haists 1725. My selfed 1916 Baron seems like a great plant for competition growing- I love the plant & pumpkin characteristics??

Welcome to my jungle! Very little care! Some pruning and burying early, then just pruning. So little care I ran into a battle w/ the dreaded svb! Learned a lot there! Under control now!

Overhead shot, I think I have like 8-9 plants going! 8 pumpkins. It's been fun to weed & do things with my kids in the patch.

Owner of Sunnyside gardens farmhand and his two daughters grew this on their 1st year trying! I'm guessing 800# from looking at it!! No pruning or burying, 6 ft from stump,no vine management, stem pulled straight down!main vine under pumpkin!
