This is the patch on the other side of the house. 2 plants back to back. Closest is the Harp 1236. On the opposite of that is the 1309.5 Connolly club seed. These will end up being my carving pumpkin plants. Its hard to set the pumpkins this year. lots of critter munching all around.

Different angle pic. The Connolly and harp plants. First year for this spot. Had 2 huge ash trees removed last summer due to ash borer infestation. With luck I may get 1 or 2 to grow in the front yard. The excitement of moving giant pumpkins has run its course within the neighborhood. Less volunteers each year. Might have to just carve them where they grow eventually.
Just back from an amazing trip to universal studios Orlando. Our little muggles were very excited to see harry potter. Lots of cool pumpkin stuff at that park. Missed a few pollinations while gone but weather gave a break and rained a bit to help keep plants going. Only 1 pumpkin set so far, back late June, but lots of possibilities now.

I hacked up this vine and pulled out a good size Svb maggot. Better out than inn, they heal pretty fast even if I butcher up the area.

I spent most of my patch time Sunday on Svb maggot removal. Around a dozen now. Sizes range from little skinny half inch to fat two inches. Cleaned one out of the stump of the 1381. Stuck a skewer into the hole till I fished the little worm out. The pic is a leaf that I found so chewed up that I just cut it off. Easy to spot with the frathing and brown area on the bottom section. Big maggot in that leaf.

Last Svb pic. This wasn't the biggest I pulled out. most we're smaller than him. Finding around 5 per plant now. All areas seem to be healing fine.

1309.5 Connolly on left with 5 pumpkins. The 1236 Harp on right has 3 remaining. All on Harp have split and rotted so far. One kin on the Connolly is doing well. At about 500lbs and gaining more everyday. Pretty good with another kin at 450 and a couple over 200 on same plant. The sunflowers have been amazing this year with the multi heads standing over 15 feet tall

The 991 stopped growing at 650lbs. Great color and nice shape. I was able to get a few new ones started but very late set on those. Hope to get a couple in the 500lbs range. Almost every pumpkin I pollinated set from this plant. No splits and very little complications from the 991.

1381 is my best shot this year. Late July pollination. A bit behind but hope to keep up the weight into late next month. Still looking for that 1000 mark but over 900 will be a new PB

The tape says 915lbs today so that's a new PB for me on the 1381. I have come up light in the past so wont know for a couple more weeks still. I have done a lot of extra things for this plant since it is still growing. In years past I have had very little growth in September. Cold moving inn will slow her down some.

Patch 2 is all but done. maybe 4 good pumpkins here. One of these 2 will get weighed also. Both on the conolly plant around 600lbs each and still gaining slowly. I didn't think the first one would make it with that shape so I started another. So 2 nice pumpkins to carve here. Pollinated by different males. The shapes show that. with the sheets on they look like ghosts in the patch now
