This is for Mark! Who likes to make fun of us southerners when it snows. This is how we do things in the south, when it gets cold and snows, we make ice desks for the weather crew!

260 Clementz, Mark, so sorry to post this, plant has done great, melon not so great. I might battle Susan for the longest skinnest melon award this year. The 260 will see dirt again next year

So far, the 316 has always been the largest in the patch, she is slowing down, but still adding a little here and there. Nothing super exciting, cause I know she will be 30 pounds light. 255 Mitchel hit 200 pounds yesterday, and the 207 Mitchell hit 205, gotta love those Michigan genetics. Sorry Mark, but the 260 ain't but in the 160 range. Then the last plant is the 274 Kent graft, and lets just say it's a MONSTER at a whopping 50 pounds at day 55, lol, no stump, no melon, so NO grafts for me next year?

Grafted stump from last year, fills with water, and rots until it leaked out the side, causing a hole

316 bit the dust, 12 inches of rotted vine! RIP buddy, it would have been nice to see what you could have been

Got the 316 pulled yesterday, after final measurements, the dang thing went heavy, and first for me! Brought it inside, and put the rack it grew on, on top of the air vent, then placed melon on rack and covered with a towel, so it will be interesting to see how much weight it will lose.

inside was completely hollow, and never even completely met, there was a spider web and spider on the inside!

Cut the stump on the 316 4 days ago, plant still looks good even completely cut away from stump

Monday, September 8 View Page
This was interesting to me, this was my graft plant 10 minutes after cutting stump, completely flagged and wilted. the 316 traditional is now 4 days with no stump and still looks good. haven't pulled the plants yet, but you would think the vines rooted on both plants the same

Graft melon, maybe 60 to 70 days old, never really measured(it never really grew much) was extremely hollow, and based off the stump, maybe there is some truth to lack of water and nutrients getting to the melon, if the juice can't get there, it ain't growing!
