Patch shot from yesterday.

Patch pic. A bit weedy in spots.

Going to be a rather disappointing year with the giants, so I'm putting a bit more effort into two field pumpkin plants. I've never seen vines this thick and vigorous, it looks like this plant (54.6 Wolf) is on steroids or something.

Had to pull the 2032 yesterday, the pumpkins just wouldn't grow. One less to take care of.

Lost the 2009 to blossom end split. This is the first time I have ever split one in the spot where my 1407 was grown.

This doesn't look good. Maybe I should put a hat on it.

Some good color in the works - I love this look.

The only 2014 cross of ours that I'm excited about this year - Amelia's 811, pollinated with my 1059. As you can tell by the weeds, she took care of this plant.

And here's what I have on my 1059 plant.

You know you've been neglecting your plants when you start up the mist blower, and it blows out mice. Anyway, pictured here is the shortest stem I've ever had. Not visible are the 3 splits in the stem, just like its mother (1480). If this one holds on, it should be a decent consolation prize to an otherwise crappy season.

Problem stems never seem to get better with age.

888 Wolf 14 (1495 Stelts x 2009 Wallace). I wish I had saved this seed for next year. Anyway, had a great time at Bethel and a big thanks to all who helped lend a hand. Finally got to do the Dyberry tour as long as we were in that neck of the woods too!

626 Wolf 2014 (1295 Bailey x 811 Gerhardt) It was about 20# light to chart. I'm not taking this one to a weighoff, so I just weighed it at home. Should make some pretty seeds.

Had a great time as usual hanging out with the crew at Doylestown. Jim, Alex, and crew put a lot of work into it. Had some sunburn weather again this year which made for some nice pictures. I was lucky enough to get the HD award with one of the nicest pumpkins I've had in a while.

Here it is from another angle. 644 Wolf 2014 (1059 Vincent x 1495 Stelts). The pollinating plant grew the 888.

Came back from the weighoff to find the 1480 had continued to grow.

Jim Gerhardt showing proper measuring technique on a long gourd. Unfortunately for him, the curvature cannot be counted.

1206 Wolf 2014 (1295 Bailey x 2032 Mathison). A bit heavier than expected.

1299.5 Wolf 2014 (1480 Wolf x 2009 Wallace). I should have watered juuuust a bit more. Some excellent pumpkins in Clarence this year, Congrats to Karl and Don on new State records. Mine would have had a shot at the HD award, except.......

Amelia's pumpkin was perfect. 575 [Amelia] Wolf 2014 (811 Gerhardt x 1059 Vincent)

The 575 has become the prettiest cross we have ever made - it and the pollinating plant each won HD awards. Fingers are crossed for a good amount of seeds.

Forgot to post a pic of my 665 (1417 Wolf x 1059 Vincent). I screwed up this plant, should make some pretty offspring.

Never thought my cover crop would be doing this well, and growing a bit after christmas.
