Ordered 2 seeds from the 1175 Bryson ( 1476 Bryson ’10 x 1419 Bryson ’10) on Howarddill.com. I am currently growing an Atlantic giant, but am not too happy on its size (bought from EBay) so i'm guessing it didn't have very good genetics. It's currently around 70-80lbs and still growing. A possum got in the other night and took quite alot of bites. They have since gone kinda hard and scabby.

This is my 72.6lb pumpkin from last year-this year. It is the one on the far left. Quite small compared to all you big hiiters out there, but the seeds were bought on eBay. Hence the small fruit. Come september it will be a new story thanks to John (Northwest rain), Phillip (Pipster) and Diana Dill-McDonald. Can't wait to prepare the patch! If any of you have any soil prep tips, please tell me.

Wow! This is confusing me. I was just reading up on the Internet about Dolomite, to raise me soil PH level. It is currently around 5-5.5 It says that Dolomite needs up to 6 months to work? Is that right? I only have around 90 days until planting time, and I still need to ammend my soil. Please help! What can raise my Ph to 7 in little or no time at all?

Hey guys, do any of you have any giant marrow seeds in which you are willing to share? I have got around 4 seeds from Phillip McCauley's 20.3kg Australia record marrow, but wanted to see if I could grow an Aussie record with a 30 or so kg marrow. Any replies would be extremely appreciated! Cheers.

Giant marrow patch is all ready and waiting for a lucky marrow to be planted! Used: Home made compost (1 bukcet full), Mushroom Compost (2 bags), 1 bag of cow manure, organic compost (2 bags), sprinkled in some blood n bone, Super phosphate, Potash, pelletilised dynamic lifter and some all purpose pellet fertiliser. Sowed green manure today aswell. Used three 25g packets. Watered in and raked over. The planting hole is around 80cm deep and around 1m wide. Filled with compost, organic compost, cow manure, mushroom compost, blood n bone etc.. Pretty much the same thing for the whole patch. Can't wait for September!

Bit concerned at the moment. Some doves hust came in and starting eating my cover crop seeds! I have just been out in the rain constructing a makeshift scarescrow. It's just a broom with a small rain coat covered over it. It also has a paper mache face, with a bucket for a hat. Pretty simple, I know, but it's doing he job so far! I also attached a silver owl to a shovel. When the wind blows, the owl gets knocked about, making the silver on its wings shine. There's a small cat bell underneath the owl, which also gives it that extra punch. ;)

Got a trailer load of horse manure from the race course for free today. Was pretty happy. The only bad thing is that it contains quite a bit of saw dust from the stable floor. There's a bit of lucerne in the manure though, and I'm thinking that there shouldn't be too much trouble with weeds, as race horses are fed mainly oats, lucerne etc.. Only the best goes in, so hopefully only the best comes out!!! :)

The season has begun!!!! I'd like to thank everyone for giving up their own time to send me seeds. I must say it was a very hard choice. So many great seeds!! But in the end, there could only be 2. I have filed a 1723 Marshall and a 1236 Harp and am currently soaking them in warm water. Hopefully I can beat my PB of 72.6lbs this year.

Bit of a sad day :( I thought that the 1236 Harp had rotted, so I peeled away a bit of the shell at the tip.. While I was doing this, the tip broke (i think) it's now very flat and rugged where the tap root should be. Such a shame!!! :'( I'm soaking a 1307 Holub (1421.5 Stelts X 1544.5 Revier) at the moment, hoping to get it to germinate to replace the 1236 Harp. I'm kicking myself now!!

1258.8 Peters X1
Wasn't able to find anyone who could grow the 660 Marley. Sorry Scott, next year I'll give a few seeds to my friends who have room. Oh, and Joseph Young, couldn't find anyone to grow your seed either. Maybe I should upgrade my patch to fit 4 plants... Hmmmmmm...
