Wednesday, July 28 View Page
Day 16. Had a storm last night with 30-40 mph winds but no rain. the plant seems to have survived. Circ - 56

Thursday, July 29 View Page
Day 17. Circ - 61. The split I feel is due to vine position. I have the vine turning 90 degrees at the stump.

Friday, July 30 View Page
Day 18. Circ - a little over 65.

Friday, July 30 View Page
Started very late with these guys. But this one seems to be taking off well.

Saturday, July 31 View Page
Day 19. Circ - 70. the split is a tiny bit bigger.

Sunday, August 1 View Page
Day 20. Least rate of growth noted overnight. Circ - 72. I changed the measuring tape. I guess using a strechy string and then measuring the string was not very accurate.

Monday, August 2 View Page
Day 21. Growth has slowed down a bit. I am seeing some vine growth, that might be one of the reasons. I will let the plant do its thing for now. Could always use some extra plant. Circ - 76

Day 22. Circ - 80.

Did some measurements yesterday. About 400 sq ft of plant. Fruit set at 13.5 feet. Will try to get at least 500 sq ft of plant Fruit growth seems on par.

Thursday, August 5 View Page
Day 24. Cric - 86.5. Growth has definitely slowed down. Horrible weather last night. howling winds all night at 30-40 mph. mild damage. Heard that other growers in the area have had significant plant damage.

Thursday, August 5 View Page
LG around 64 inches. will hopefully touch the ground soon. Have already made a small hole in the ground for it to grow into. Survived the winds last night.

Day 25. Circ - 89

Day 27. Circ - 93. Past the 200 lb mark.

Saturday, August 7 View Page
He is around 72.

Monday, August 9 View Page
Day 29. Circ - 97. Way behind 30 day benchmark for the heavy hitters. I think I was letting the plant grow during the last 10 days that slowed down fruit growth. Note to self - start early next year and have enough plant by pollination.

Monday, August 9 View Page
This guy however is doing well. Small plant. started late. 77 inches.

Monday, August 9 View Page
Tracking growth. 1st 10 days - 26.5 inches. 10-20 day - 45.5 inches. Day 20-30 - just 25 inches. I dont get it. There has to be a reason for this. Plant looks healthy. I am wondering about my fertilizing schedule. Do u severely cut down nitrogen? Well we have a patch tour coming up. May be I will ask the experts. I let the plant grow to get at least 500 sq feet. I have terminated all but one secondary today.

Sunday, August 15 View Page
Day 34. Circ - 111. Enjoyed the patch tour. Saw curiosity, hope and heartbreak. Learnt a ton of stuff. Hope I will remember all I learnt for the next years adventure.

Sunday, August 15 View Page
84 inches.

Wednesday, August 25 View Page
Day 44. Was out of town. Wife was baby sitting. Mainly watering. Circ - 122. Severe cracking all over. Long gourd has stopped growing at 84 inches.

Day 51. I think tapes 500+. I really hope that is the case. If it is, primary mission accomplished. This would be my PB!!! I am happy that it is still showing signs of growing like oozing and cracking. 24 days to weigh off.
