Today i placed some weedcontrol fabric under the main vine and the baby pumpkins.I do this because it creates an area where the plant can not throw anchor roots. When the pumpkin starts growing bigger and lifting the plant a little bit,i don't have to cut loose anchor roots all the time.Second advantage is that it keeps the rodent from digging up into the fruit.
