Happy 4 of July everyone! This is our wild flower garden.

Friday, July 4 View Page
I feel like Im a murderer! But I made my decision. This fruit has a nice shinny color to it. It has almost grown twice the size since last night. Now that I culled the other fruit, it should really begin to pick up now. Where I broke the vine the other fruit was set there at the knotch, so I thought it would be safer to have it farther from the cut end of the vine.

We just had a thunderstorm pass through about 45 minutes ago. Winds up to 70 to 80 miles per hour. Went out to see if my garden was ok. Pumpkins "A" ok, but some of my mini pumpkins took alittle beating, but still ok. Lost a large mexacan sunflower. O well, you win some, and you loose some.

This is another one of my sons pumpkins. The other one aborted shortly ago. Boy this sure is a weird plant. I cut off a vine section that was flat. It grew lopsided all the way. I don't know if it will make it or not

Wednesday, July 23 View Page
The same plant has reached at least "32" feet long. Does anybody know if I should Stop it there, or let it keep going?

Wednesday, July 23 View Page
We must have had "2" inches of rain the last few days,But this pumpkin doesn't seem to mind that at all. From the stem going around to the other side it measured "54" inches. Looks like I'll have this one for a while.

Wednesday, July 23 View Page
Danny's pumpkin measured "43" inches. It looks like he might beat me in this contest! It still has young looking flesh, and shinny as can be. Im surprized!

Saturday, July 26 View Page
Looks like little sister is slowing down some, but still picking up some pounds here and there.

Thursday, July 31 View Page
This is the one Im having trouble with. It's "70" from the stem to the other side and still growing, but it's on a slant on the female end near a dip in the ground while the stem end is going up. I hope I can make it straight again. I'll keep filling the hole and try to raise the end up.

Thursday, July 31 View Page
You can see how the stem is bending downward. Man this thing has a wonderfull color to it, and I don't want to loose it. When I try to move it back, the end just moves downward. Anyone know what I can do to fix this? It's almost to heavy to move.

Thursday, July 31 View Page
As far as this thing is concerned, I may keep some seeds and try again next year. Oh what the heck, I'll let it go and see how big it gets.

Saturday, August 2 View Page
"84" from stem to the other side of the same stem. You know..... when I look at my pumpkin up close, I realized that a photo just can not do justice. You yourself know what it is like being up close to your pumpkin and touching it, and then looking at the photo of it seeing it's just not the same. Man I can't even budge it to move it! This is the first time I ever grew a monster like this! I never realized how much fun this could be.I admit, Im hooked line and sinker like the rest of ya all.

Sunday, August 3 View Page
I bought a better camera, But this one came from my personal diary at home. I like touching this pumpkin, I can't resist, it is "80" going around stem to the stem again.

Sunday, August 3 View Page
My cucurbita has reached "1" yard in length, and reached "84" stem to stem, wider then my kitchen stove, and still putting on the pounds. I never did this before. Man I hope I can move it in the fall?

YUCK!!! Does anybody know whats up with my squash plant? I found what apears to be, tiny greenish yellow moths the size of fleas all over under the leaves, just in that area. What would be safe to put on this plant?

Friday, August 8 View Page
My cucurbita has reached almost "100" inches stem to stem and still going. Right now I'm fighting powdery mildew, and it's not been easy. Been getting alot of rain, and I'm sure this isn't helping much. Dannys pumpkin is getting sm cracks in the stem. His is about "77" stem to stem, slowing down some.

A couple of happy pumpkin growers, like father, like sons. Dad, can we pick the pumpkin now?

Saturday, August 16 View Page
I went out this morning to check on my pumpkins, and my bita had a crack on the stem on both sides of the stem going from the vine to the pumpkin, so once again I filled it. It has grown much since we had rain the past few days. My other one has reached "83" stem to stem again. the stem is getting thicker, but small cracks continue to form. I think they will be ok.

Saturday, August 16 View Page
Another shot of my curcurbita at a side veiw. Inspite of the cavity, I'm still quite happy with her, and this being my first year growing a pumpkin, I could always use it for a shelf to put my books on.

Well, most of my plants have died back because of the powdery stuff, but my pumpkins are still ok. I havn't sumited a photo because not too much has change since the last one. I learned from Gardening by the yard on TV from Paul. He said; mix one cup of milk with nine cups of water to fight powdwey mildew. He said it worked well on his other stuff.
