Rebuilt ~50yrd wood chip compost pile and got it back up to 140F on Jan 13. Adding 35 yards of compost(cow and horse). 5 yards of biochar, 100lbs of Nature Safe 8-3-5 and ~20 yards of topsoil(so far). Thursday, January 15 View Page from Dec 20th Friday, January 16 View Page Bio Char has been a fun winter effort. Chopped ~cord of wood, dug a 3x6x10 pit, and got the fire started at the bottom of pit with a small amount of the wood. Friday, January 16 View Page Over the next 3hrs, added a layer of wood every ~10min as it began to ash, till I ran out of wood. Friday, January 16 View Page Drenched fire w/water(~500gal). Mixed in a yard of manure compost, and probably ~yard of top soil. Friday, January 16 View Page Hauled the resulting ~4yrds(1/2 yrd per load) of charged BioChar over to the garden.
