Starting some pumpkin seeds inside for practice before the real show in the spring. I have a new indoor set up that I would like to perfect before I use the real deal seeds. Here we have on left a Wal-Mart bought "giant" pumpkin seed, middle is a seed from a 120# field pumpkin I grew in 2016, and right is a 330# pumpkin I grew in 2017.

You can see right through them when the lights are on, seems one way. From the inside all you see is blinding light. I used my new LEDs and added my 2 flourcent lights from last year too.

About a foot down I hit our solid clay base. It made me realize how shallow my tiller goes. I plan to dig deeper and back fill with compost and perlite with sand.

I dug deep into the clay base and play to add this mixed with perlite into the deepest part, along with drilled holes filled with sand for drainage.

Ontop of the lower base I'll lay sand and my soil heating cables. Ontop of them I'll add a layer of this.
I'm excited to see how this works, it has some solid ingredients.
