As a first time grower, I have found this site to be a great resource. I have really enjoyed seeing all the grower diary entries throughout the season. I've decided to finish off my first season with my own diary. My pumpkins certainly are not big, but I do hope to take one to a weigh-off just to experience it. I will post pictures next.

I figured we'd take some pictures with the last nice weather we will have before the weigh-off.
My wife and one of our two pumpkins. She has shown me great support in my new hobby.

Here's me and our other pumpkin.
I planted 3 plants to start the season, but the third plant kept aborting fruit when they were basketball sized. So, two is all we have. Filled in the empty area with mixed cover crop and tillage radish.

Had a blast at my very first weigh-off. We made the trip in the rain to Altoona for the PGPGA weigh-off. Got to meet some really nice people with REALLY nice pumpkins. Great way to wrap up my first season.

Another surprise. Checked out the GPC results page. I actually placed tied for 12th. Very cool.

Our 684 est. on display in the front yard. The 892 will be on display at the Hilton Hotel in I believe Washington, D.C. I can't wait for next season. Time to get the rest of cover crop planted. Going to be tough as I fell and broke my collar bone on Friday.

Since I'm laid up with a busted collar bone my wife pitched in and shredded maple leaves and spread them over the patch for me.
Soil test results should be here early this week. Already thinking about next season.
Happy Halloween!

A little late with this, but thanks to the OVGPG fall raffle I got an early Christmas present a few weeks ago!
If anyone has any interest in making a trade let me know. I would love to try growing a 1317 or a 1998.5 (my wife likes em big and orange!)
