Monday 5/13: 25 pounds compost, 1/2 pound 10-10-10 added to hills and tilled in. (evening rain) Tuesday 5/14: babies planted out. Sunny and dry Wed 5/15: one gallon blue water per baby Sunny and dry Thursday 5/16: pond watered, sunny 1/2 day, cloudy in afternoon. no rain Friday 5/17: Drip lined, county watered.

First prize winner baby, cant wait to see if she sets and stays!!!!! These hit 200 pounds in the field last year with no care what so ever, so with the over love program they are getting this year I remain ever hopeful.

Tis little ladies main stump snapped about two weeks ago in a wind storm. Thought she was a gonner, but buried all of the vine, and well....there she goes growing again!

End view of the whole gang, hard to believe they were still seeds on the 30th of April!!! 50 days later, phew, I can hardly keep up with vines on all 8 of them- averaging a foot a day in growth on the main and 1/2 a foot on secondarys!

My plant I named Surprise! I sprouted it for my parents....then forgot it when I went home. It spent a week in 100+ temps in greenhouse with no water, root bound in an old hanging basket. When I planted it in the old iris bed "just to see what would happen" it was a wilted stick with six leaves...that was 5 days ago...

"Mr Stemmy" This plant has done nothing in three days but grow a stem, it's now 8 1/2" long. The Kin is at 9" around....be a nice stem if the thing doesn't abort.

Its not a string.....its a root! It fell out of this strange shaped pumpkin when I cut it off as it had aborted, now I see why. Silly pumpkin- roots grow on the OUTSIDE!!!

Anthracnose and gummy stem blight already showed up from the last week of wet weather, this isn't going to help!!! I have a feeling my growing season is going to go to rat shit.
