This is our first year of growing giant pumpkins. We planted six seeds April 1st, only four sprouted. We had the seeds in a mini-greenhouse. April 10th we switched the seeds to bigger pots. Last week we tilled a 40ft X 40ft garden.

Today we put up a fence. We dug a 4 inch trench so the woodchucks can't get to our pumpkins. Describing our plants: The leaf is as big as a plate. The plants are as green as the Grinch. The leaf is like the veins on an arm. Our plants are as tall as a sky scraper.

We tested our soil. Our PH test neutral, and our phosphorous was low. Something happened with our Nitrogen and potassium test, and we didn't get any results.

We finally planted our pumpkins outside. We put wind barriers up. We mounded the pumpkins to protect the roots and put a circle trench around so we wouldn't water the leaves, just the roots. We also fed them.
