So winter patch prep is going well. Packed in 4 1/2 feet of snow mulch. May till it in or might let it decompose on its own. That black dot in the middle is my sprinkler. Might have watered a little to much in this cold but we'll see how it goes.

Seriously, This is not working for my plan for this year. I don't have any place else to put snow.

I figured I'd take advantage of my time off and today's heat wave here in New England 36 deg. and start my patch prep. 2900 Sqf to go. Is this how it's done in Alaska.

Here is the patch about a week ago. The 2032 is front and center. The 1734.5 is far right. My own 471 rear left and my 783 is rear right. All plants are doing great after a rough start with wind and dry conditions. Really working on keeping the weeds at a minimum. currently 5 pumpkins pollinated and expect 9 by the end of the week end. And then see from there what gets kept. 2032 was slow to start after the pollination. but in the last week is blowing up.

Interesting shot of the patch from top of my garage while I was repairing the roof. I pollinated 4 more this morning. There are 9 controlled pollinations 1 open. I may let the plant far left have some more open pollinations for some people who asked for pumpkins. Big pile of compost delivered yesterday for vine burying

Interesting situation. On one vine. On my own plant. With a pumpkin pollinated, the leaves are wilting.
the new ones look good and 4 leaves off the main look good. dug up some of the vine and it looks good, the pumpkin looks good so far. Today the leaves look worse but the pumpkin still looks good. Comments

22 Days in on my 2032 and this happens. I sprayed with a light bleach and water solution. And then painted on some Captan and put fan on it. We'll see how it looks tomorrow. any suggestions let me know. Soil test was above recommended calcium but I don't know if it needs more.

Marshfield fair weigh off was today. We had a new grower Elaine Koski weigh her first pumpkin. Ed Pappas, Steve Hallowell, Brett Rowe, My self Mike Fleming. and long distant entrant Andy wolf. Steve connolly showed up to view the weigh off. We had 6 pumpkins and fun was had by all.

Mustard was mowed. 9 1/2 yards of manure. 160lbs of lime and 100lbs of gypsum. All spread and tilled in and I am beat.
