I finally figured out how to do this with my iPhone. (I hope) This is the 1985 Miller 28DAP. 80/55/53 188 OTT.

So, here's the dilemma. I ordered my mill cloth too late and this pumpkin grew to 180lbs. Before I could get the mill cloth under it. After a quick look in the shop, I found this truss that I made a while back out of some thin-wall electrical conduit and gathered up some other materials. I whipped up this lightweight beam lever with legs on one end.

Then with the lever in place, I tied a sling around the pumpkin still attached to the vine and lifted the beam up onto a sawhorse on the lifting end. With the pumpkin up off the ground, I slid the mill cloth into place.

I'm a Grandpa this evening. She waited an extra week to make her appearance.

This is my tissue test just received. It's a little confusing to decide a course if action as one thing affects another.

My one remaining pumpkin, the 1985. 650SF plant, 343OTT, 90DAP, growing 7 pounds every four days. No outward signs of damage. The plant is tall and green except for the 25% PM coverage. The aphids have succumbed to the ladybugs. Trying to get 20 more days from it for the Elk Grove event. Unless it goes light, it'll be a new PB.

I finally found the pumpkin lifting machine that will be needed here in northern California. I should be good for a couple more seasons, then we'll have to find something bigger.
