trans planted the plant that a veteran Giant pumpkin grower gave me. i picked what "i" thought to be the better of the three. i did it in the evening two nights ago and seems to have taken to the new surrounds. still perky! i have been supporting it with fresh garden soil after every watering. still have the shade cover up for at least another day or so. also have a skunk and rabbit fence up until i get some pest control out. the patch is 8'x25' now if all goes well this year i'll extend next year to a square 25'x25'. try and cram two plants in.

training the main to lay down its a tuff guy, thick stump and points straight up. i moved a little dirt away from one side and put some bamboo around for support. have a feeling hes going to have a funky arch. all in all plant looks good for my rookie year.

had a small wound on my 1209 Shenoha, its healing up nice almost closed no disease or signs of rot.got Captan powder just in case.still have the Shenoha 1497 growing but its to slow a grower out of the gate and i stared the season late so i cant gamble on it picking up the pace like i have heard it would. i will try it early next year for sure but I'm learning a ton. the 1209 is a great plant hope the pumpkin is as good as the plant.

been gone for a week to Atlanta on business trip. wife was a big help in keeping the plant growing. had three females when i returned, one at 7'- I terminated, one at 10'- ready for pollen in few days, and one at 12' just appeared. with this many females i terminated my back up plant. it was my wifes favorite so that had to be done out of her presence.lol going on vacation for a week in a week so i hope i can pollinate both before we go.

I snapped the main vine this morning being impatient and not letting the sun soften the vine up before training. after a few cuss words and a cup of coffee i have to now remap the secondaries to support a pumpkin. this should be fun... i was having a good rookie season.

This is the back up about 4' down from the first set its a five lobber, i scratched it twice working it into a 90 from the vine. still have one the same size or slightly bigger growing on a 25' secondary but i know eventually it must go.... shame its a pretty 5 lobber.

Big disappointment for how much work i put in.
