Planted my pumpkins today. At my house is the 1789 Wallace (thanks Pap and Ron), it had a small split in the seed coat and made the cots deformed. Looks like it is developing the normal leaves normally. I planted a Sherwood 1552.5 for a backup in case there something is wrong with the 1789.

Also today I planted a 1634 Werner(left) and a 1799.5 Daletas (right) at another garden. Was going to plant more but my brother moved this spring so I lost where I was planning on planting most of them.

The 1789 Wallace on the left with the 1552.5 Sherwood on the right. I will prune the 1552.5 this week as the 1789 is doing well. The weather here went from 90 deg to frost and now no sun for two weeks. As soon as it warms up and the sun shines I sure they will take off.

This is the 1799.5 Daletas. It suffered from a light frost( not forecasted) but is coming back strong.

Here is two 207 Cantrell 2011. I had a hard time starting the watermelon seeds this year. I only started one seed of each total of 5. Only three sprouted, one did not look good. Tried to start some more but they failed. Next year I will start at least two of each I want to grow. Also will research how to start watermelon seeds more, must be different from pumpkins.

Last Wednesday we had a tornado come through town. Lucky no one was hurt but a lot of damage. http://www.sanduskyregister.com/gallery/4270461?page=0%2C2 My plant got some hail damage and some wind damage. A lot of leaves are cracked. I am trying to run some secondary's back to fill the area but had most of them dead headed so I have to run them 10 feet just to get to the damaged area. This is the plant at home that faired better. I don't have a picture of my other plant yet.

DAP 28 on the 1789 Wallace 80.5 cc 52 ss 54 ee for a ott of 186.5 Was starting to pick up but dropped from 18-19 lbs. to 15-16 lbs. a day. It has been cloudy and cold for the last four days. Last night it got down to 51 deg. I cant rember it being so cold in July. The high today was 71. Will this cold weather slow the growth or is it loosing steam?

Sorry last post should have been DAP 20. Pollenated on July 8th.

Cull on the 1789 46.3 lbs. chart said 47.6 lbs. I culled it from the end of the first side vine two days ago. I set it because I was at the edge of the patch with the main and wanted to be sure to have one. Have one more on a side vine that about 10 lbs. I will cull it after the rain stops, we have had about 3" this weekend alone.

Day 48 148-89.25-95.25 ott 332.5. This is the end of the 1789. The weather turned cold and the weights slowed down, then on the Wednesday it was beautiful with the low in the 70's, and it gained 35 pounds that night. A split formed in a rib at a dill ring. The split went though last night.
Sunday, August 25 View Page
Here is the split. I put caulk on it this morning to see if I can at least get another 5.5" Ott to match last years pumpkin. Even with the cold weather it was still putting on 20 pounds a day over the last eight days. Should have made 1000 pounds easily as it was picking up not slowing down.

Here is a side shot of the dill ring. I did not think that it was too bad. I would like to thank Pap and Ron for the seed, sorry I could not get it to the end of the season.
