Thanks to handy, I have this little 255 growing in my patch this year. I decided after a long struggle to just self it. I couldn't decide which of my plants would make the best daddy, so I just kept it in the family. You know that's how we do it in TN.

First gourd, I'm playing around with. It's only about 7ft up trelis so I know it won't make much, just want to see how they grow this first year. It's amazing how fast they are growing.

Found this guy hiding on the back side. He just became my number one on the 282 Dawson plant. I have no idea who his daddy is, but anyone in the patch will be good.

It was decision day on the 255 Mitchell plant. This little guy got the boot, just didn't like where it was on the plant. OTT says it weighs 35.9lbs, I'll weigh it at work tomorrow, and see how close my measurements are.

Just noticed grass in last pic. That's what 19days without rain, and 4 days over 100 does to your yard. I think we're at 16 or 17 days in a row over 90

My how things change. I went out yesterday morning early to get the culls off, and what did I spy? My 255 plant went down over night. Not sure what got it, everything was fine Tuesday afternoon. I had a good melon going on it, and then just gone. I'm assuming the squash bugs got it.

1st long gourd, I went ahead and cut it off, because it was growing along the ground, and I figured I'd come in one day with it broke from the stress.

I've got 2 more plants having trouble. They both are yellow around the stump, the outside of plants look good. This is my 282 Dawson plant, is there any hope, it's got a melon over 150 on it now. The vine around the melon looks good.

I cut the 11 day old 255 melon I had culled on July 1st today, hoping for seeds, as it was selfed. This is what I found. None of the seeds seem mature.

But, then I noticed a black spot. After digging I started finding these.

Didn't end up with many, but it looks like 100 or so viable seeds. I'll know after drying.

Found something in the weeds a couple weeks ago. Being as it's done everything on it's on, I'm not going to disturb it now. I had a 239 Leonard plant that just wouldn't seem to grow, so I started neglecting it work on the plants the seemed to be trying. This plant has to be the worst looking plant I've ever seen, but it has a nice fruit on it. I'll show it off whether it's damaged or not next Wed. when I pull it for the TN State Fair.

This is rain from last 24 hours. I haven't waded out to the rain gauge yet. I ran over 2 carp and a catfish on my way home last night.

Is this ring around the blossom end normal 15 DAP, or is this the result of 4.42" of rain in hours?
