Growing 2 plants this year. 2493 wolf and the 1952 Kogut. Just selfed the 2493 this morning which is usually early for me but the plant has 16 sides before the feamle, another female should open in about 8-10 days.. My 1952 is growing a bit weird, sides seem to be slow on the whole left side and growing out at acute angles. Going to cross the 2493 into the 1952.

Linus and I ran in the Pen NY ASCA stockdog trial July 8-9. We ended up with two 1st place finishes in started cows 84/100 and 91/100 with a high in trial award as well as a 107/125 and 100/125 in open ducks with an overall high in trial. In our advanced sheep runs the sheep won so we have some work to do. Hopefully the success carries into the weigh off season.

Pumpkins are ok 1952 Kogut (small area): plant is terminated and healthy, pumpkin (6-22 x 2493) had a top bottom stem split (twig didnt go into the cavity) that I filleted open this morning, poured in bravo and put a fan on it...hopefully it holds, will be pure orange. 2493 wolf: Plant is massive with 4--4.5 ft stalks, Ive been avoiding N application so this is from the chicken compost last fall. PM is under control and no signs of SVB damage ..yet. Pumpkin is a great shape and will be orange. Tomorrow will be DAP 30 and ill measure for the 1st time, it started outgrowing its little sheet about 4-5 days ago. Will need to prune around the pumpkin and buy more sand by mid week

2493 wolf....solid orange, never got into the rapid 50+#/day growth phase but its been consistent. Plant is huge in terms of height (4-4.5' leaves and density) and its healthy (no sign of soil dz or foliar dz and no indications of svbs) so Im hoping it will be a consistent grower into sept.. Put down about 1800# of chocken manure last fall which seems to be pushing plant growth more than pumpkin growth.

Lost the 1952 today. This pumpkin had many 1st's....1st one i had stem split that I kept alive, 1st one to have a surface crack that formed this past week with the very hot days and cool nights and the 1st one to rot, oh well.....it was pretty. Ill do good OTT later on but probably about 650#.

2493 wolf x 1952 kogut, looking good, nice halloween orange. Seeds should throw very orange pumpkins. Taping about 1200 but Im thinking its heavy with how the shoulders and blossom end are filling out.

Linus did well in this past weekends ASCA stock dog trial in Hemlock NY. We finished multiple titles on cows and geese....only need 2 sheep and 1 cattle qualifier to finish his championship!
