Pumpkins are a warm-weather crop, the specific conditions necessary for growing pumpkins require that soil temperatures three inches (7.62 centimeters) deep are at least 60.
Letting my plant sit outside during a light steady rain.
Suppose to have been mid 60's but temp. only 57 and 3/10" rain in 3 hours, time to bring Gino (pumpkins name short for ginormous) in soon.

OMG I am so jealous looking at those who have had pumpkins growing for a month or more. lol
I have a green thumb and a good sense of nature, but I have had so many things happen to so many different types of plants I never expect anything will survive.
What I should do is grow them to a point and then turn them over to someone to finish it out for me.
I can't remember how many times I would offer to nurse a plant back to health and being given the plant to keep; just to get it in perfect health and kid, animals, nature, or something else destroy all my work....oh well.
Even a blind squirrel gets a nut once in a while.

Well not a great pic. It's growing and healthy but small and not sure it even is AG as leaves an vine look too small to me. It's suppose to be from a pumpkin that was 729 pounds.
I guess it may be a runt lol I will just have to wait an see.
Today is suppose to be our first 80 degree day, maybe I can get it in the ground this week.

Barely had any 70 degree days now 80's yesterday, and 90's today.
Gino went in the ground 5-23-10 6 pm.
Checked to make sure all went well overnight, so far so good.
Buried up to the cot, watered.
Time to be ginormous!

Well, I knew some thing would happen; now my pumpkins are on their own as of June the 3rd.
I can only hope the pumpkin gods are kind to me as this was my last seed from those purchased.
Came off a roof and couldn't get my feet under me well my right foot anyway, it's sad cause I have actually jumped off of 2 story house roofs before.
I'm gonna need surgery and it has been a week already and I still have to wait till the 13.
I hope it isn't still too swollen this time, but who knows.
Well, good luck to the rest of you, grow a monster in my honor ....... lol.

Well, still can't get to my vine, but from a distance I can see it seems to have had a major growth spurt.
Still have to hope the rains, wind, hail, animals, or fungus gets it.
We have had hail to the west of us and 60 mph wind east less then 50 miles from us.
Rainfall is around 3 inchs every 4-5 days.

Still on the disabled list with my broken foot, and the plant is lookin ok.
Could see blooms from the house for a little over a week now.
Wish I could take care of the vines and blooms, as well as water.... at least the rain has been constant and good.

Cool wet days have slowed growth some, but not much.
I hope to borrow a cousins power scooter soon, so I can make it to my vine.
They look big (leaves and bloom I assume is male), from the window of the house.
I had hoped putting the vine in a partly shaded area, in case of a heat wave we didnt have, would aid it.
I can only wait to see if Gino ( short for ginormous the plants name) lives up to my hopes lol
