I have decided to create a growers diary this year. This is my 2nd year to grow AG’s. Last year I used seeds purchased from a home improvement store with little success. I was able to grow a 96 lb. pumpkin. After reading books and online information, I feel that I am much more prepared to attempt to grow a large pumpkin.
Last year I created a post on this web site asking for good seeds. Multiple people responded to my post offering seeds. .
I would like to thank the following people for their generosity:
Paul Fiedler
Brodie Gonsoulin
Kenneth Watkinson
Frank Finders
Jamie Drum
My lineup for spring 2010 includes the following:
502 Fiedler
406 Gonsoulin
679 Watkinson
1164 Finders
The seeds are soaking and will be planted this evening in pots.
I plan to utilize the 421 Drum later in the season to try for a giant pumpkin for Halloween.
Good luck to everyone.
Jason

The 679 Watkinson won the race. It's the first to break the soil. I'm still watching and waiting on the others.

The 679 Watkinson and the 1164 Finders were planted in the patch on Monday, April 26th. The original 502 Fiedler and the 406 Gonsoulin didn't germinate. I started a 401 Fiedler and another 406 Gonsoulin to replace the 2 seeds that failed. The new seeds have now sprouted. The 401 Fiedler sprouted, and left the seed casing and the leaves in the dirt. I was able to dig up the leaves and it now looks normal, except the stem has a small indention where it kinked. I have started a backup 502 Fiedler to replace the 401 Fiedler if needed.
