This is my first attempt at a giant pumpkin. I am excited to grow. I attended the weigh off for Utah last year. Cool stuff. Then my friend and neighbor Matt McConkie got me excited about growing. We had a meeting with some other guys and started an unofficial High Mountain Giant Pumpkin Club. I am accepting all advice at [email protected].

1054 Tanner!!!! Got it in the ground. Please let me be competetive for rookie of the year. At least help me make a showing for my High Mountain Club. We are at 5000' and have crazy weather.

I have been covering my plant at night with an old Coleman Cooler with a hot water bottle in it. My hoop tent is still getting down to 35 or 40 at night. Hope June is better weather.

Crazy hail storm today. Happy Fathers Day! Luckily I still had the hoop house up. I only lost a few leaves that were growing outside the hoop. Most all other trees and plants sustained major damage in my yard. We had marlbe to nickle sized hail for about 5 minutes. It was truly crazy. June has been very wet. We feel like we are living in Seattle not Utah.

This is also my rookie year for growing giant sunflowers. I got a real late start with these due to the crazy June. They are Sunzilla seeds from Reneesgarden.com. I would love some seeds from you pro’s out there to grow next year. I got these in the ground on June 15.
