This year I am growing the 1170 Vincent, 1132 Vincent and the 1130 Pitura. I started soaking them on the 25 of April. The 1132 Vincent is a squash.
Thursday, April 30 View Page
The seeds soaked for 14 hrs them placed in paper towel and put in the oven with the light on witch the average temp was 88 degrees F. The squash was first to sprout in 12 hr and the pumpkins followed in 24-36 hr. After they sprout I planted them in a soiless mix ( pro mix ).Today the 1132 Vincent came up And the others should not be far behind.

Transplanted the 3 bigest plants in to gallon pots today. The 1130 vincent squash is the on the right and the centre one is the 1132 pitura and on the left we have the 1170 vincent. I still have 1 plant of each in smaller pots.

My plants are doing well. The garden on the other hand is still to wet to work. It was almost dry enough but we got more rain last night and today. I have a load of manure ready to go on so I am hoping that It will be dry enough by this weekend because my plants will have to go in soon !!
Friday, May 8 View Page
It was a beautiful day today and the patch dryed off enough to spread the manure. I am hoping to get it woked in tomorrow and maybe plant my pumpkins and squash. Also the manure spreader in the picture is for sale (613)399-5645
Friday, May 8 View Page
looks GOOD!
Saturday, May 9 View Page
Today my grandpa and I cultivated the patch and worked the manure in.
Saturday, May 9 View Page
The patch looks good but I think I will have to roto-till it to get the lumps broke up.
Saturday, May 9 View Page
also I made my planting mounds to day. I dug a hole about a foot down and put all the soil from the hole in the wheelbarrow the mix pro-mix in till it was about 50% soil and 50% pro-mix.
Saturday, May 9 View Page
Next I put the mixture in the hole and put the mixture on the sides and bottem of the hole. So when I put my plant in I can fill in around it with good soil.
Saturday, May 9 View Page
Next I cover the planting mound with black plastic to warm the soil.
Saturday, May 9 View Page
These are my new green houses. I would have planted my pumpkins to day but as soon as I finshed It started raining so I will hopefully plant them tomorrow.
Saturday, May 9 View Page

Monday, May 11 View Page
This is my 1132 pitura 08. It is looking good. I Have had my plants out side the last few day to toughen then up.
Monday, May 11 View Page
Tonight I checked the tempature in my green house after a sunny day with the door closed and the tempature was 94 degees F! WOW!
Monday, May 11 View Page
Tonight I planted my biggest plant which is my 1130 vincent 08 squash. I would have planted all 3 but it is going to be a cool night and I only have 1 light for heat but after tonight it is suppose to warm up. So I am planing to plant the others tomorrow evening.
Monday, May 11 View Page
Sorry, that last pic was supposed to go with this entry. I put some rocks in the green houses to help stablize the tempature because rock takes longer to heat up and longer to cool down. First I cut a hole in the black plastic which I layed over the planting mounds to warm the soil.
Monday, May 11 View Page
Next, I took the plant out of the pot. BAD picture of me, I know.
Monday, May 11 View Page
Then put the pumpkin in the planting mound and filled it in with soil.
Monday, May 11 View Page
Then I put a 12v trouble light in to keep it warm. The light is running on a car battery because I have no hydro in my patch. The reason for that is it is over 1000ft to my patch from my house.
Monday, May 11 View Page
People going by on the road are going to think I am crazy because by day there are little huts and by night there is a glow.
Monday, May 11 View Page

Tuesday, May 12 View Page
In the last pictures my plants look yellow but that is just the lighting. They are much greener then they appear in the pics.
Wednesday, May 13 View Page
Finally my patch has dryed out enough after that last rain that I as able to rotor-till the garden to breakup the lumps left after cultivating it.
Wednesday, May 13 View Page
Then my grandpa disked the patch.
Wednesday, May 13 View Page
The final product is a well worked patch ready to grow some big pumpkins !
Thursday, May 14 View Page
It rained hard today and the wind blew. I had a bad feeling that somthing was not right but as I was in school all day there was nothing I could do. So when I got home I found this. My 1132 Vincent squash had been snaped off. I think the door got loosend by the wind feel on my Plant.
Thursday, May 14 View Page
I was lucky that I had a backup and got it in the ground as soon as posable. This plant is not as big and dose not look as well but I think it will be fine. Just a minor set back.

The 1130 pitura is recovering after losing it's main vine. I do not know what happened but one morning I went to the patch and found that my main vine was gone. I am working on getting a pumpkin set this week.
Sunday, July 5 View Page
I also lost the main vine on the 1170 vincent but the secondary vines are 12' out on each side.I should pollunate a pumpkin about 10' out in the next few days.
Sunday, July 5 View Page
The vines on 1170 are growing about 6" a day now
Sunday, July 5 View Page
The 1132 vincent squash is the only plant that I did not lose the main vine And I set a squash at 9' but might wait for the next one.
Sunday, July 12 View Page
I pollinated this pumpkin at 11' on the 1170 vincent this morning. It was a 4 lobber.

This is my watering rig. It is a 1000 gal tank on a trailer pulled by a 65 hp 4WD massey ferguson.
Thursday, July 16 View Page
First thing to do is fill the tank to do this we have a 5 hp motor that runs a big pump that pumps water out of Consecon lake.
Thursday, July 16 View Page
The water goes into the tank. IT only takes about 5 min to fill the tank.
Thursday, July 16 View Page
This 5 hp motor runs a small pump that pumps the water through a gardn hose.
Thursday, July 16 View Page
Then I can water my plants.

The 1130 Pitura has a weird pattern but I made it work the vine going to the left is the main vine and the vine going to the right is a secondary that I trained backwards but all the vines are behind the pumpkin.

Thursday, July 23 View Page
The 1132* vincent was at day 10 today and another new personal best at 26.5" CC.
Saturday, July 25 View Page
Day 10 to day for the 1130 pitura the cc is 22.5" smaller than my other day 10 measurements but not bad. There is still lots of vine growth on this plant witch may have slowed the growth of the pumpkin. The vine growth will end when the pumpkin gets to day 20.
