Year 4 just bought some great seeds. This year I'm being more aggressive with my spray schedule. I've been researching and talking to people and it seems like my past failures have been from not protecting my plants from disease and pests. I will not make that mistake this year.

Plants are looking good the 1158 Keim is around 12ft long growing very nicely still no females. I noticed a few white spots on the leaves so i checked out the mad scientist and i think i have a little spray damage. I need to be more careful when applying the neem oil. The 1600 McConkie is a beast what a plant it is really starting to vine out around 4 feet already. My parents have a plant the same age that hasn't started to vine just yet so i have high ups for this one. Great Cross!

The wind was crazy this weekend no storms but they were to our south and north so we just got wind. It rolled around the 1600 a bit and broke a couple of leaves. I cleaned it up and buried the vine a bit so it is looking much better now.

Pollinated the first 1158 Keim at 11 ft on Saturday May 26th and the second at 12.5 ft on Monday the 28th. Both of these i've crossed with the 1600 McConkie the 1600 McConkie has its first female at the 7ft mark probably be ready to pollinate on Sunday. The plant has been growing very well about 6 inches a day it has been producing alot of male flowers so it seems very happy.

Day 10 for the 1158 Keim crossed with the 1600 McConkie. 18 inch cc. Nothing great but it has a nice big stem, great location on the plant and a very big plant behind it so I really think with the next 10 days of temps highs of 90 and lows in the 60's and 70's it should really take off.

Just trying to keep my plants alive not going to be an easy task should be over 100 for the next 10 days. I have 5 pollination's on the main vine of the 1600 but none have taken just pollinated 1600 x self on a side vine. I have many pumpkins on side 1 on main that will open in a couple of days and i'm pollinating all of the hopefully i can get one set.

Hot Hot Hot The 1158 Keim plant still looks good putting on new growth everyday. The 1600 McConkie doesn't look good just using him for pollen right now.
