The plant on the left is 1332 Companion '15 (no history, mother was 1813 Northrup, 1332 was nice orange). Plant on right is 2102 Meier (14+ pumpkins over 1K, largest 1872). Both plants have eight developed leaves, the 1332 has a slightly more developed vine. So do I go with the "slightly" better looking plant, or go with proven history? Wednesday, May 25 View Page Did the deed this morning, snipped the 2102, made it easier that it appeared it was starting a ribbon vine. Warm weather has really kicked things in gear. Tuesday, June 7 View Page This is the 1332 Companion out in free space for the first time, had to remove the greenhouse as it was touching on all four sides. Didn't really want to take it off since the forecast is for cooler temps the next few days but couldn't go another day. And of course 20 minutes after I removed the house and buried the vines the skies opened up and POURED! I thought it was going to go south of us and pass us by, the major portion did, they got hail just a few miles south so I'm grateful we only got the rain. Monday, June 27 View Page Beautiful sight, first (and hopefully only) pollination on 908 Horton squash. Nice long stem. Only problem, there was only one male flower open, hope that was enough.... Friday, July 8 View Page Sad, sad, sight. Both the first and the second females on the main vine aborted, don't see another one on the main. Damn, huge beautiful plant with no squash to show for it. So much for defending my title....
