Testing lifting ring and straps. Used a 26" drill hole reamer weighting 5,000 lbs. Was difficult to get it balanced. Reamer was lifted a little off center of the top of the ring. Ring was distored but straps and it's sewing and buckles did not fail and whole ring and straps could be used again.

Straps are approximately 6 feet 6 inches in length and can be adusted to fit any size of pumpkin. Straps are easily adjusted before lifting to fit pumpkin. Non sliping buckles allows straps to be custom fitted to any shape of pumpkin. The fork of a forklift can be inserted through the ring without a chain if space is critical. Rings will not be damaged by having a fork put through them.

Went to Howard Supply company that tests chains and cables for the oil patch. They have a hydralic ram with computer attached that can test up to 50 tons. I took the round end of a propane tank and welded a anchor to it. This was attached to the anchor point on testing device

Lifting ring straps were secured to the bottom of the steel representing a pumpkin ring via the strap that closes the bottom under a pumpkin.
Friday, August 16 View Page
Lifting ring was attached to the end of the hydralic ramp and the slack was then up. This ring is approximately 28 inches in diameter. Pressure can be applied via the ram to device fails or testing limits are reached. A computer print out showing the results can be made.

Test results showing that ring, straps and buckles were tested to 4,140 lbs. No problems were encountered with this ring.
Friday, August 16 View Page
A 13" ring was then tested in the same manner. This ring was tested up to 5,190 lbs with no problem. It would have taken much more but figured it would be awhile before a stronger ring would be needed. This ring complete with adjustable straps and buckles is available for $150 plus shipping.

Straps and buckles were also tested to see if they would pass. There was no problem with the straps or buckles.

This is a picture of my latest idea. It is a "Dori Sling", It is 36" long and is designed to be looped thru the top of a pkn lifting ring and then the double ends over the fork on a forklift. This elimates a chain.

This is the pull test of the Dori Sling. It was wrapped around a pin, representing the lifting ring and the the 2 en placed over the other test pin. I ran the test up to 5,012 lbs and no problems. Figured this would be adequate for the near future.
