After losing the first pumpkin of the year I have nourished my second. Hand pollination was done sometime around July 28th, I'm hoping the season isn't to far in the young pumpkins growth. August 4th logs were 7 1/2 inches long, 5in wide, 11 3/4 around. August 5th logs were 9 1/2 length, 5in wide, 14 1/2 around. Todays measurements were 11 inches long, 5 1/2 wide, 17 1/4 around. Saturday, August 9 View Page It's finally started to rain again, hopefully the much needed rain will add even more growth. Today's Measurements are 14 1/4 length, 7 1/2 wide, 24 3/4 width around. Yesterday was my first day of taking measurements of the circumfrence by length wise and was at 33 1/2. I'm continuing to use fish emulsion as the primary fertilizer, but hopefully can find another fertilizer to supplement it's growth. Sunday, August 24 View Page Today I found SVB's in 3/4 of the 845 Welty plant. I was able to repair the wounds with silicon caulk after distracting the nearly 14 larvea. Being fairly new to growing, I was thankful enough to have this website where I could search and learn about some of the problems that plague these pumpkins. Hopefully I was able to distract all of the svbs, however time will tell. Todays measurements were 39+ 46.5 + 64.5 = 150 OTT The pumpkin is merely 78lbs, but this was finally day 20.
