This is the start of my new patch at my new house. lots of digging to do and grass to dispose of. Soil from an at home test showed little signs of any nutrients what so ever, and consists of about 95 percent sandy gravel. Lots of work and organics are needed to bring this land into pumpkin loving condition.

This little guy is the result of about 30 or so seeds from my 221 Hoskins from 2 years prior. After amending a small section of patch I threw 30 or so of these guys in with some Mycorrhizal fungi to help kick start this dead piece of soil to life.

That's my 221 Hoskins in back and the freshly transplanted 1124 or 1126 Dixon in front surrounded by compost seeds of some kind. Thanks again Glen for getting that one started for me.

And this guy here is doing really well even though I never planed on keeping it. First female spotted about 6 feet down which I think is just amazing for this time of year. Must be the new climate.

And here are my 2 little plants and my little garden helper. They were definitely planted too close to each other, but with this being a new patch started so late, it is what it is and I will just manage this year.

And the pumpkin sex gets started. With a few years of practice under my belt I feel confident I sealed the deal.

At just over a week old and slowly gaining some size I am super excited for the rest of this season and all future seasons and my new house. I was a little nervous, being nestled between a few mountains that the plants would be missing out on some sun. With the forecast for 38 degrees on the weekend I will definitely need to give them a quick midday shower.

My second pollination on the 221 this morning. With so many little ones on this plant I will have a hard time saying goodbye to all but one. Still a few days away from pollination on the 1124 though. Funny thing I noticed in the afternoon. The flower blew back open after I tied it with a tendril this morning, destroying most of the petals. I hope it did not cause any new born stress.

And here is the large Hoskins female, getting one after another after another... In this Agri-culture bigger is better and hopefully more fertile.

I really don't know why I but my self through the torture of watch this one grow for 2 weeks. It was probably just the excitement of getting one going before all the locals. haha. At 89 OTT and 24 lbs its better late than never to get rid of unwanted baggage growing so close on the main.

So This was my earliest pollination left on the 228 Hoskins. 29 inch Circ. @ 15 .It had some oddly indented parts and the shaped seemed off so I culled it in favor of a nicely shaped and positioned youngster another 3 feet out.

And This is the nicely shaped Sibling. Soon to be an only child. Its kinda young to be putting all the eggs here but it has a lot of ground to make up at only 11 DAP and 22 circ.

This is My 31 DAP 1124 Dixon at 92-64-61 Only growing 50 lbs. these last 5 gorgeous days while I was out of town. Has me wondering if I need to step up the fertilizing. Grown Organically its sometimes hard to keep up with the other locals but its sure to fill a couple freezers come fall. Any suggestions Glen.

This is the 28 DAP 228 Hoskins looking mighty round, pretty and will turn orange as you can see from the cover falling off slightly in the wind. Worth keeping but not wasting time measuring.

My clustered and mismanaged patch. Lots of room for improvement next year. Plants will be on opposite sides of the yard.
