This year's line-up.. Got to go with the 1794 Pugh.. just a huge pumpkin with great genetics, thanks Russ and the 1213 Rea..just a beautiful pumpkin, thanks Glenna.. This was a tough year for choices .. just way to many quality seeds and no room to plant them..it's a bummer.. I loved to have Al's patch back in Maine .. that be great

Hopefully this is the path to a new state record , ... JD's 1287 is going to be tough to beat. only two have made it that far ( one didn't count) so it's no way a sure thing...I'm still hoping he moves to another state..lol..If he had a chance to grow in a decent climate ..look out..

the 1723 .. its about of room main at about 7 ft. the mini house is 8 x 8 ..thinking about making it 12 x 8 ..while waiting for night temps to get into the 40's

Wednesday, May 9 View Page
the only reason a plant even has a chance to grow up here at this stage of the year ..is in the top right... it's called supplemental heat ..lol..

Wednesday, May 9 View Page
the 1st female on the 1723.. it's about a week earlier than I would like ...umm.. what to do

Wednesday, May 16 View Page
Another week has gone bye and the weather has good , a little cool but plenty of sun. The plants have out grown the mini houses ..and now are in a delicate part of the season, it was 34 degrees last night but inside the GH was in the mid 40's .. the 1610 x self on the left.. and the 1161 X 1725 on the right

Thursday, May 17 View Page
another angle of the 1213 Rea and 1794 Pugh...both at day 46...as you can see the 1794 main has turned around nicely.. they will be grown in a semi flag pattern.. both look good and are growing nicely

Day 55 for the 1213 Rea on the left and 1794 on the right..both are showing their 1st females and should be ready to pollinate in the next week.. both plants are growing nicely now..with both mains past the 12` ft mark

Friday, May 25 View Page
The 1st female off the 1794, hoping to pollinate it with the 1723..if pollen is available..

Friday, May 25 View Page
Day 55 for the 1634 cross, plant is doing nicely with the main over 14 ft mark and secodaries starting to fill out nicely wiyh females showing on most of them.. the problem is the main ..with the 2nd female appearing 8 feet down the main, from the 1st female. It is still a week away, since the weigh-off date has been moved up and with this late pollination I'm going to lose about 10 growing days..assuming the fruit sets..you can the 1st about mid plant and the 2nd is where the stakes are

Friday, May 25 View Page
another angle of the 1723

Friday, May 25 View Page
A female off one of the secondaries on the 1723, insurance policy..plus the 1794 has pollen available now..so pollinat now and cull later ..hopefully

Sunday, May 27 View Page
Pollinated the 1st female off the 1794 Pugh, it opened quicker than I thought ..luckily the 1723 had some flowers ready

Sunday, May 27 View Page
A little weird looking ..not sure just how many lobes that is ..also seeds in the blossum is a concern..not sure if that's bad or not

Sunday, May 27 View Page
that covers that..

Sunday, May 27 View Page
the 1794 x 1723 cross all wrapped up.. hopefully it will set.. and we can start growing pumpkins..that be great

Thursday, May 31 View Page
Finally..the 2nd female on the 1723 main opens..it's sitting a little past the 14' mark and a good 8' past the 1 st female..almost 2 weeks between blossoms..wasn't planing on that

Tuesday, June 5 View Page
The 3rd female off the the 1723 main, just 3 ft apart from the 2nd, and 2 ft from the 4th yhat is now showing.. a beautiful 6 lober ..same as last year... only 2 weeks later

Tuesday, June 5 View Page
another try at the 1723 x 1794 cross...both times pollen has been iffy ...still waiting for one of the sets to take off.. nothing to exciting.. to report yet ..looks like a normal year ..lol..

Tuesday, June 19 View Page
In the grass, behind the patch ..could be trouble..

Tuesday, June 19 View Page
Yup ..double trouble..lol..they are cute now..but in the future they eat any shrub , vine or tree.. that doesn't have a fence around it...

The 3rd set on the 1794, after 2 aborts. This plant is a beauty and real strong, the first couple of sets had irregular blossoms with seeds in them , real cool temps at pollination time probably didn't help either. It's all about genetics now , with 3 others pollinated . I still have a shot of a decent pumpkin off this plant

Saturday, June 30 View Page
The 1st set off the 1213 Rea..I loving this thing, it has a real nice shape and looks like it's going to have real nice color also .. should be fun to watch it grow

this is a side project off the 1723, I pollinated a fruit off one of the first side vines for a different cross then on the main... after a while I sever the vine from the main.. basically it allows me to make 4 crosses off 2 plants for the price of a couple side vines
