Got the onions potted up. They seem to be doing OK. It's just nice to have something growing this time of year!

These guys are going to be in pots for a long time so I will have to start feeding them at some point. I potted them up in some sifted soil mixed with Psycho Myco. It's a blend of granular compost with kelp and humic and of course some pumpkin pro.

This year was progressing nicely until we had a fierce storm come thru. it rolled a lot of my vines. The plants recovered nicely but undoubtedly slowed things down.

We had a crazy heat spell come through in middle of September where the temps got to 100 deg. for 2 days. I lost 2 pumpkins that day most likely to growth surge.

This is the 2009 going into the compost pile.
it was the best grower in the patch once it got growing. A little slow to start but once it got going it could have been a good one. Nice color also
It was the pollinator for my 1770 Lieber

I ended up down to only one pumpkin this year to take to the scales. I'm happy with it. It looks great and has the ide3al shape I look for in a pumpkin. A lot of the flatter pumpkins I saw this year at weigh-offs went light.

Here's my first try at giant onions. These were 3 lbs. A seedling I started and gave to a friend went 4.5 lbs. Can't wait to try these again next year.

Time to open her up. Since it went 20% heavy I was really interested to see what the thickness and density was like.
My pruning saw that I have been using all these years, didn't make it through to the cavity.
I had a few seed requests early on and so I was hoping for a decent seed count.
She ended up having just under 200 seeds.

The inside was nice. The thickness was unreal!
Look at the bottom. it was over 12" thick on the bottom, I've never seen such thickness on the bottom.
I was real nervous this year about something chewing its way in through the bottom because I used no sand...Good luck chewing through that.lol
